Bacardi 8 rum

Bacardi 8

United States | Aged | 40% ABV

Bacardi 8-Year is a blended rum, filtered using the Bacardi-pioneered charcoal filtering system and aged for eight years.

This rum was not released to the public until 1995, when the first limited edition Bacardi 8 was sold with a sherry oak finish in a Baccarat crystal decanter. Despite a price tag of $400 per bottle, the rum was hugely popular and led to the larger release of the blend without the collectors' features and price.

Very nice rum, dark amber color, very sweet aroma. Bacardi 8 is a very smooth and easy drinking rum, great for sipping. For the price point, one of the best bang for the buck rums on the market. Could easily pass for something twice the price. When compared to stable mates like Flor de Cano 7, El Dorado 8, Appleton Reserve Blend and Mount Gay, Bacardi 8 is a better low priced sipper or everyday drink than its competition. Don't be fooled by the "Bacardi" name!!!

Rum has a tangy finish similar to spiced rum - I actually double checked the bottle to make sure that it isn't. Otherwise this would be a better rum.

I have had almost every Bacardi under the sun (my family lives 10 min from factory in PR). This is by far my most used and go-to rum. It is the Swiss Army Knife of rum for me.

Taste great on its own AND it becomes the killer rum if you marry it to Coke. I keep mine in the freezer for the mix...and one room temp for the straight up. Either way, you will not be disappointed.

Un rhum très sympa pour le cuba libre, de la douceur, du sucre et du bois...bon rapport qualité prix !

Brugal, Barcelo, Cacique, Pampero....I really don't have time to list all brands that could do better for a lower price....

This rum is this good. It's different from other good rums in its smokey aroma, one which whiskey lovers would love, as would they the relatively low sweetness (compared to most good rums). Really enjoyable in a snifter glass, and becomes very balanced and rounded after a few minutes, up there with the very best rums I had. Too bad you need to be patient (which I'm not, hence the 8). All in all, an excellent rum and much better than what I would ever expect from a company like Bacardi.

Exposure 8 years did not really help rum. Boring, flat, not interesting, the smell of alcohol beats in the nose, Hard taste. The price is more expensive or at the level of the rum, which is much better in quality. You can use it in cocktails, but why then stand 8 years in a barrel and pay for it more?

I gotta say as some others have, this is an OK rum but not good enough for sipping.
It is a bit to aggressive for that.

But mix it into a drink and it goes a pretty long way.

My real rating is a 9 but I gave a 10 to try and raise this up from the current 6.9. This is a wonderful rum. Smooth and flavorful. Truly one to sip and savor. 8 year is the minimal age mind you. Some barrels in the mix are longer plus that hot Caribbean sun works magic. You can taste it in the glass

Few years ago I enjoyd this one a lot. Gave it another try recently and found it not that good anymore, but still a decent choice.
