Bacardi 8 rum

Bacardi 8

United States | Aged | 40% ABV

Bacardi 8-Year is a blended rum, filtered using the Bacardi-pioneered charcoal filtering system and aged for eight years.

This rum was not released to the public until 1995, when the first limited edition Bacardi 8 was sold with a sherry oak finish in a Baccarat crystal decanter. Despite a price tag of $400 per bottle, the rum was hugely popular and led to the larger release of the blend without the collectors' features and price.

I bought this rum to sip, not for the cocktails being a bit worried whether it would do. It has very fresh taste, kind of light that you don't really want to end up with one glass. Not very complex but the flavors that are there are in good harmony. So it was a pleasant surprise for me

For a Bacardi, not bad at all. Even if I do not usually like their rums, I have to admit that this one is quite drinkable, even as a sipper. Smooth and sweet. Not to be compared with the Venezuelan or Nicaraguan rums, but I will reluctantly admit it's worth a 7.

Good - works well in as a mixer (works nice in a mojito) and good enough with an ice cube or 2.

Nothing that will blow your socks off but a really solid rum. I think it is better for mixing than sipping but expensive for mixing as rums go. Worth giving it a try if you like other Bacardi rums.

OK, when in the right atmosphere, a party with good music, this rum won't spoil my evening but it's very average

My g/f had this laying around and although I drank the whole bottle over a few weeks, its was definitely not a sipper for me, used for cocktails.

Its an excellent mixer and its good for sipping too, smooth and a bit sweet.

Bacardi superior is known for the bad mixing (bacardi-cola) in the clubs. But Bacardi 8 years is a surprise! A little ice is needed to brake the hardness and bring up the nice smokey aftertaste. A good sipper for a decent price.

I have a lot of more expensive runs that I don't like as much as Bacardi 8. Not as sweet as a lot of rums, which I like. Not overwhelmed by vanilla like a lot of runs. Not super smooth, but smooth enough for drinking neat.
