I was in a rush while shopping and read 16-year claim on the label without understanding what it stated. I still don't, even after having time to think about it. At first glance, it looks like it claims to be an aged rum with 16 years in the cask. I went back and read the label again after shocking my tastebuds with the first sip and saw that the wording is such that it can be confusing. It's not a 16-year-old rum. The claim is that the blend of rums in the bottle somehow adds up to it being the equivalent of a 16-year-old rum. What the heck does that mean? The claim is quite a stretch in all honesty. It is smooth and not biting, but rather than being in a mellowed from age way in a glycerine additive way, and pretty close to sickening sweet with an overwhelming scent and flavor of vanilla, and in my opinion not even close to a real quality 16-year rum. I struggled to find ways to use it to make it more palatable, Zevia stevia-sweetened cola was the best of all the combinations, but even then it felt like a sugar overload and it just wasn't enjoyable. I suspect they changed the recipe somewhere along the way. How else could it have ever received all the positive reviews in the past?

I have got much experience from this community, so, I give back a bit. This rum had only 3 ratings which might not be enough for a well based decision, so, I add one more.
My perspective is neat sipping. It might be weird that how can such an idea come to sip neat a Spanish style white rum! Well, I know what Aguardiente means in Cuban context, that is the reason behind my selection. My assumption was surprisingly good! :D
This rum is more dense as I assumed, almost like a pot stilled one.
On the nose, it is completely like Clairin from Haiti: baby corn and butter.
On the palate, it is the same together with a slightly peppery note and an elegantly, tiny bitter finish. Alcohol is not harsh but a bit stronger than in Clairin, especially compared to its 40% ABV, 80 proof. It feels also that it is a bit more diluted than Clairin but still very tasty. Letting it get some air, it does not lose much aroma.
Price in Hungary is around 8000 HUF on 2024.05.08.

Not as good as the XO but not bad at all! Enjoying this with a good cigar right now, my advice would be to go for their XO if i had to choose though this is also worth a try!

Wow.. such a surprise, it's truly been a while since i enjoyed a rum like this! Absolutely worth trying!

My first white rum and I'm pleasantly surprised. Very fresh, fruity, sweet (as from the fruits) and incredibly easy to drink. Taste especially a lot of raspberry, some mango, peach, passion fruit. Got a little bit of the Jamaican funk going on. Some liquorice in the background. Amazing rum especially at this price. Nice to sip in summer for an easy fresh and fruity rum.

It all started with this one for me. Still one of my go-to sipping rums.

Sharp technical, thinner, funky and little smoke in aroma; gentle start, glue and thinner and touch of molases in warming body; lasting heating tail with touch of smoke.

A great-tasting rum for mixed drinks, with just a hint of banana and spices. Will not overpower the other flavors in your cocktail. Very smooth.

About 4 months ago, I happened upon the "last" bottle of this on the shelf of a nearby store, so I eagerly grabbed it. I rated it as an 8 in my spreadsheet, but never bothered to write a review for a rum that I may never find again. Well, three days ago while stocking up on rum favorites, I found several more bottles of this one at the same store and bought two of them. Now it is time for my rating, which remains the same.

I had it classified as Semi-Dry, which means that the added sugar was estimated to be between 10-19 gpl. Now I see that Earl Elliot has estimated this amount to be a little higher, and I can agree. It gets classified again to just plain Sweet. Imagine a much less sweet version of their popular DRE and you can get an idea of what this mildly spiced smooth tasting rum tastes like. It is worth the few extra bucks!

And if you are hell bent in finding the best Sweet rum without going into Sugar Bomb territory, this is the best one that I have found other than Vizcaya VXOP 21.

It is light years better than their overly priced and overly sherry casked Ambassador, whereby much of that cost had to go into that extremely fancy bottle. I wisely kept that bottle after finishing off the rum in the aftermath of Hurricane Ida in 2022. That is when I realized that a MUCH cheaper Louisiana rum was light years better and that I had been severely ripped off with the Ambassador. I now keep my cost per bottle of rum down to just $50 US max, thanks to that Ambassador episode.

Great rum. I am not a good enough poet to describe adequately. Take neat in brandy snifter, swirl, smell, and sip. Bouquet and taste keep evolving more than an hour. So subtle and interesting it took me hours to go through two ounces in the brandy snifter. An after dinner drink for when you have hours to relax and enjoy.

Its not a bad rum but very simple. has a nice colour, smells on vanilla but the flavour is pretty average. Nice with a coke zero, lime and ice

A nice rum for an outdoor party although it's pretty strong. Colour is nice and dark, the flavour is pretty sweet with a thinner syrup like pour. The spice is certainly there.

I really like the colour despite some reviews commenting on it being lighter than most dark rums. The flavour is good & it's really smooth and is a rum I can enjoy neat or even nicer, with a diet coke and ice.
I live pretty far from the Cayman Islands as i'm in the UK but I have 3 bottles on the shelf. Would recommend to anyone.

I got it as a present, it is just terrible sweet. I dont like it
