Plantation XO 20th Anniversary rum is a combination of pot-stilled and column-stilled Barbadian rums that are initially aged in the Caribbean in ex-bourbon casks for 12-20 years. They are then transported to France for a second 12-18 months aging in small French oak casks.
The first bottle of Plantation XO 20th Anniversary was created for the head of Cognac Ferrand Estate Alexandre Gabriel to honor his 20th year running the company. This special gift has resulted in the bottling we see today.

How about a 7.5? My favorite of the Plantation offerings I have tried to this point. Smooth but thick mouth feel, toasted sweet notes of brulee, vanilla with a tiny bite on the finish. Goes down easy, especially as I am more prone to drinking higher proof cask strength bottles at present. At 40 percent it still has a heft to It. It says it is from Barbados? It's not like what I have come to expect of a Bajan rum. I bought it for $50, which is a little too expensive for a mixing rum, and maybe a bit sweet for my current sipping tastes. But it is really tasty, a good choice when you are looking to entice your guests who are new to the broad reaches of rum. This will wow them! I would rather spend $15 dollars less and get a Mount Gay XO for a great Rum and Coke workhorse. Or even better, spend $15 more and move into Foursquare Sagacity territory. But that's just me.
vanilla, brown sugar, fruit and leather nose. Amazing mouth feel smooth long finish
Neat is preferred but on ice is nice as well
One of the best rums we have had so far. A nice spicy bite with an ultra smooth finish.
Well the bottle and glass are both empty that tells you something. First of all I love the Plantation rums and their unique process in aging rums from all over the Caribbean. The Barbados XO is there best known and popular rum from M Ferrand of France. Medium gold color boasting with scents of Island spices, dried fruits, vanilla, cinnamon, bananas (Trinidad 2001had even more intense fruit scents). Bottle and packaging first class as is the rum.
While it is truly a great rum I love full bodied rums better and have yet to meet a 10, therefore an 8 rating. I will definitely buy it again.
It took me a few sips to put my finger on the flavour, but it’s coconut. Not the cheap fake coconut flavour or Malibu or the like, just a subtle coconut flavour lurking around.
Very smooth and tasty. I like to save this for special occasions.
Well balanced taste.
sweetness and spirit in perfect proportion.
Has a very pleasant sweeter scent.
I personally won't get bored anymore
Never had a rum with such a strong vanilla character. Super sweet. Tastes like banana bread with a TON of vanilla.
This is a wonderful rich and flavorful rum that is outstanding. My only complaint is that it’s costly compared to others that equal it’s flavor.
It tastes pretty much like a coconut liqueur.
"An overly sweet saccharin note which make the rum taste artificial. ."

Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label
