Plantation XO 20th Anniversary rum is a combination of pot-stilled and column-stilled Barbadian rums that are initially aged in the Caribbean in ex-bourbon casks for 12-20 years. They are then transported to France for a second 12-18 months aging in small French oak casks.
The first bottle of Plantation XO 20th Anniversary was created for the head of Cognac Ferrand Estate Alexandre Gabriel to honor his 20th year running the company. This special gift has resulted in the bottling we see today.

Tropical ageing : 8 -15 years. The rums are chosen for their struture with aromatic characteristics suited for intensive oak ageing.
Continental ageing : 2-10 years. A blend of very old rums, finished in many different types of casks ranging from new white oak to Bourbon casks as well as Ferrand casks, each with different level of toasting.

Not particularly brilliant, but the overall performance is not bad, lacking a sense of hierarchy
This is one of the first sipping rums I tried, it is often a favorite when I host a rum tasting night
Sweet present!! Tastes like a real Carribian rhum should taste!
Starting with its appearance in a lovely bottle, this rum doesn't let you down. Just enough sweetness to appeal to the masses as a great sipper but not too sweet to feel this a dessert!
The flavors of vanilla and coconut come through in a smooth subtle way. It might be my imagination, as I'm no sommelier, but the taste from the bourbon casks peeps through.
Very smooth. Enjoyed well by the ladies. Straight up , it was superb!
While you can taste added sweetness the great quality of rum shines through the most. Vanillia, Carmel! Smooth
Bananas foster on the nose. Pineapple and coconut on the palate but much better than a pina colada. Slightly sweet but not overly so. Could drink all day.
Ùžasná jantarová barva, chut jemná po vanilce, ovocná vune a koncovka je sladká. Opravdu doporučuji.
We were surprised by this one. It gets very high ratings but we found it to be light in flavor or personality and so so high in alcohol fumes! It’s intense, not smooth with quite a bite. Made into a rum old fashioned it was just ok.
It tastes pretty much like a coconut liqueur.
"An overly sweet saccharin note which make the rum taste artificial. ."

Presentation, smell, taste, everything about this rum screams "class".
