Guyana | Aged | 40% ABV | Pot and Column Still
El Dorado 12-Year Rum is composed of a blend of aged rums, all at least 12 years old. The rums are distilled using a combination of stills including coffey stills and a double wooden pot still before being aged in bourbon oak casks.
Demerara Distillers of Guyana produces El Dorado 12-year rum and is the country's last remaining distillery, with origins tracing back to 1670. The name ""El Dorado"" references the legendary city of gold that is said to be in the country's Rupununi region.

If you want a good bottle of rum and you don’t want to spend a lot of money, this is the best option. Always smooth and sweet.
After few years, I "re-tested" it and, based to the relative experience with other products, I need to raise it to a round 8.
Not my favourite it has a taste that doesn’t agree with me. It seams bitter and has more of an alcohol bite than similar rums.
The taste is exceptional, weather you add a little mix or like on the rocks, something you can sip on or drink all night till its done.
This rum is probably the best best rum there is for the money it cost. It is sweet and rich in flavor.
At first, I wasn’t a big fan. But I keep coming back to it, and now I really like it.
I like sweet and smooth and I think this ticks both boxes for me.
7.5*
Start met een zoetje daarna een lichte anijssmaak. Prikkelend achter in de keel. Verwarmend
Een iets wat zoete rum met een droge afdronk.
De smaak blijft lekker hangen.
Heb het een 7 gegeven maar vind het een 7,5
Like this one, not sure which I like the most this or the 15y version. Rather sweet taste but has something rough in it too, that balance it up a bit.
Edit: Revisited this rum and now I think it’s overly sweet and because of that lowered scores
Strong sweet and vanilla aroma, little sweet flavour, fruits. Good compromise between sweet and dry rums. I like it.
Lush tropical fruit and spice nose with hints of honey and dark sugar...
"El Dorado 12-Year rum review by Mike at Ultimate Rum Guide"
It’s sweeter with more delicate fruit flavours coming to the fore.
"It’s very sweet and quite light. It’s very easy drinking. As a sipping rum it as easy to drink."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Coming to rum from Belgian beers and nice gin. I know, I drink like an 80 year old man. I really enjoyed sipping this on ice. I couldn’t do it neat and enjoy it. Too much bite for me neat and I actually enjoyed the flavor profile better over ice. Played a poker game online during the lockdown and sipped this the whole time. Great mixes but was good enough that it reall only needed a splash of something. I love mojitos and just used about an ounce of mojito mix to two ounces of this rum. Loved it.
