Guyana | Aged | 40% ABV | Pot and Column Still
El Dorado 12-Year Rum is composed of a blend of aged rums, all at least 12 years old. The rums are distilled using a combination of stills including coffey stills and a double wooden pot still before being aged in bourbon oak casks.
Demerara Distillers of Guyana produces El Dorado 12-year rum and is the country's last remaining distillery, with origins tracing back to 1670. The name ""El Dorado"" references the legendary city of gold that is said to be in the country's Rupununi region.

Really like how this one goes down. It was recommended to me by the bartender at Storm Rum Bar in Asheville, NC. I think it is very smooth with just enough sweetness to mellow it. Very full flavor at the same time. (If only I could have gotten the picture straight!.)
This is a great into rum to get people to realize rum is more than just a Bahama Mama at a funky resort.
Notes of baking spices and berries
I ain't never had a rum made from cane sugar I didn't love. El Dorado 12-year be no exception. A wee bit of tobacco and leather aroma was perfect and reminded me of me first Captain's quarters. Felt right at home. Solid rum flavor with a bit of oakiness and a soft burn. This be the good stuff for sippin' or impressing the ladies. Don't let no son of a biscuit eater tell you to mix it with anything other than good times...
It's good if you like your sweet rums with added sugar,I'm not fussed on my rums being either sweet or dry, I couldn't get past the sweetness then the oakyness and other flavors came in, will buy again
Dried raisins, cherry, tobacco, nutmeg and oak in the aroma and taste. Very little burn and the spice is stronger than the sweet. Like my title says, it’s not a bad rum but in this price point there’s better Rums available. I’m not sure if this would be a repeat purchase as Kirk and Sweeney 12 is better and cheaper. This might not be my rum of choice but I think everyone should give it a try at least once as we all have different likes.
This was my first bottle of Rum I bought and I was sold immediately.
It has a very rich and sweet nose with hints of fruit.
On the palet it is really smooth with a very pleasant aftertaste.
good rum, would definitely buy more. Decent amount of sugar though
Lush tropical fruit and spice nose with hints of honey and dark sugar...
"El Dorado 12-Year rum review by Mike at Ultimate Rum Guide"
It’s sweeter with more delicate fruit flavours coming to the fore.
"It’s very sweet and quite light. It’s very easy drinking. As a sipping rum it as easy to drink."

Such a well balanced rum. Not too sweet, no burn and bursting with flavors. Orange and other fruits on the nose. Smooth caramel and brown sugar dominate the palate with a lingering oaky orange aftertaste, however each sip yields a new flavor. This is a quality rum and I will definitely be back for more.
