El Dorado 12-Year

This is my first bottle of rum, I'm new to rum and new to alcohol, so take with a pinch of salt
IV tried a glass or two of standard pub rums
This smells like hand cleaner, first fresh taste is overly spicy just alcohol, long aftertaste of the same
Leave it to breathe for several minutes and it slowly gains some taste, I only drink neat without ice or mixer
First few mins in and it tastes like a poor spiced rum, 20+ mins later and it has a nice smooth long aftertaste, sweet enough like burnt caramel, could be better but raised my score up to 5

Enjoyed the demerara profile - sublime with cola, a little one note on its own

Good to sip, definitely have had better for the price

It's hard to go back to this after having the fantastic 21-year but it's still tasty in its own right.

This rum has an instant spice to it with an immense amount of sweetness and heat. Followed with some herbaceous and oaky flavors. Would recommend this rum as an alternative to the top top shelf

This rum has an incredible balance between fruity aromas like banana and baking spices, while still finishing incredibly smooth and dry on the palate. I had the pleasure of tasting this rum for the first time alongside El Dorado's master distiller, Mr. Shaun Caleb. His kindness and knowledge alone should be enough reason to try. A "must-drink" for anyone looking to learn more about rum!

Nothing special. Its a good maintenance drink. Won't blow your mind but won't let you down either.
