Guyana | Aged | 40% ABV | Pot and Column Still
El Dorado 12-Year Rum is composed of a blend of aged rums, all at least 12 years old. The rums are distilled using a combination of stills including coffey stills and a double wooden pot still before being aged in bourbon oak casks.
Demerara Distillers of Guyana produces El Dorado 12-year rum and is the country's last remaining distillery, with origins tracing back to 1670. The name ""El Dorado"" references the legendary city of gold that is said to be in the country's Rupununi region.

Jeho vůni pořád nevím k čemu přirovnat. Odněkud ji znám a něco mi připomíná.
Well known classic, I have nothing new to add, strong raisins, oak on the nose, strong and sweet taste of raisins, black currant, pronounced oak and molasses, then strong fruity aftertaste. The rum is robust in smell and taste, yet smooth and easygoing. Although there is quite a lot of sugar added (40g/l), it does not taste as just slightly more matured 8y El Dorado (15g/l) with added more sugar, there is much more balance, complexity and overall yumminess. Everybody's sipper for a fair price. Reedit: One bottle I bought first half of 2021 contained significantly harsher and biting alcohol, asking for score 6, probably a bad batch as a bottle bought half a year later was as good as always,
Nice and smooth rum. Certainly a bottle a want to have in my collection...
For me this is the archetypical rum - what you expect to get when you think of aged rum. It's easy to drink, not overly complex but well balanced. And yes it's sweet but it fits the picture, I can live with it. For the price it's great value, a rum everyone should taste.

Recommendation: Have this one with a cube of ice, should even out the sweetness
Color - Nice color, but it the back end sweetness makes me feel as if they added some stuff (1)
Volatility - Sipping is possible, slight burn, but after a while your palate gets a little numb (3)
Legs - Good legs (1)
Complexity - Starts out ok, followed by back end sweetness and the eventual numbness of the palate, after-taste is a little flat (1)
The label is misleading. Is no way this rum sit for 12 years in a barrel. Is a good mixer but the spirit is too present in my humble opinion. Plenty of flavors and vanilla, citrus is present as always...but I would not go deeper.
This is a very smooth rum with allot of complexity too it. It has som great notes of molasses, dark and dried fruites, vanilla, caramel, oak and a little hint spices with a slight dryness. If i where to compare it to the el dorado 8 id say this is smoother, more complex, less vanilla and more fruit, spice and a bit of dryness.
This is a rum i recomend everyone try, even whiskey drinkers. Since they stopped adding as much sugar i think this rum has gotten even better, this is one of my all time favorites cheers!
Unremarkable, but inoffensive. Not much going on on the nose and very mellow/sweet to sip ( although I am drinking along side some mt gay 1703!) Not much burn and a nice, slightly syrupy mouth feel. Don’t get me wrong I like this rum, there’s little wrong with it. It’s just maybe slightly bland, a safe option that no one will dislike. Put me another please :)
Lush tropical fruit and spice nose with hints of honey and dark sugar...

It’s sweeter with more delicate fruit flavours coming to the fore.
"It’s very sweet and quite light. It’s very easy drinking. As a sipping rum it as easy to drink."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

It’s nice, but not a ton going on. Could be the low abv? Some grass and toffee on the nose. The sip gives a lot of light brown sugar with a some clove, nutmeg, and anise in the background. The finish eventually dries out with oak, but nothing big and bold. It’s nice, but not a ton going on.
