A relatively lower priced single cask from Plantation ($60) that delivers more than I expected, with a top tier lighter vanilla cream, chocolate, oaky nose and a solid - if not overly complicated, sweet and spice finish. I appreciated but didn't really like the Cihuatan 8yr solera gran reserva from the same (only) Ingenio La Cabana El Salvadorian distillery, but this takes the best pat of that overly vanilla experience and expands it. Definitely worth the price.

Tasted at Fernside in San Diego on 5-19-24. Pours clear. The aroma is like a charanda in that is seems to be a balance between a Jamaican Funk and an agricole. Storms in hot, but moderates quickly like Rum Fire does. Heavy simple syrup sweetness gives way to an anesthetic numbing. Juju Fruit finish. Upon adding some water, this agricole aroma is totally gone. Candy sweetness remains, but somehow it burns even more. Oddly, this is an overproof that should not be diluted!

Appearance: clear
Aroma: sourdough, funk.
Flavor: bread, must, some band-aid. Tasting notes: This is a delicious rum, excellent for sipping. The flavor lingers and does not veer. This is a fine example of a Jamaican rum.

Tasted this very good Agricole from the Esperance distillery in Guadeloupe, producer of Longueteau, at the Sweden (Stockholm) Rumfest 2024.
Before blended and aged it consisted of 65% red cane rum known for its fruitiness and 35% blue cane rum characterized for its citrus notes.
This blend was then rested for 1 year in stainless steel vats before being barreled in 2017 in an ex-Cognac barrel. Finally it is bottled by Excellence Rhum, 6yo in 2023 at 56,9% in just 249 bottles.
The nose is fruity, mild, spicy and oily with notes of nuts, apricot and honey.
At the palate it’s elegant, fruity and woody with strong apricot flavors and hints of ripe fruits and cherries.
The long finish is spicy with the flavors from the palate persistent.
Overall an elegant and rather intense rum.

A dark red bottle with a light red liquid. It has a light smell with a sweet fruity aroma. Tasting straight gives a mild burn ,odd considering the only 70 proof, with the sweet fruit flavour I’ve had this bottle for quite some time, so I don’t remember where it came from or how much it was. It does work well in my friends fruity mixed drink.

It is a very flavoured rum but not so sweet as A.H. Riise. It's a manly one.

Al palato inizialmente è molto morbido con caramello, vegetali, frutti secchi dolci, caffè, liquirizia, poi spezie pepate/pungenti e qualcosa di floreale sul finale.

Not very drinkable, but could be really good in a cake!

Found this at a Hilton hotel on La Defense area in Paris.

Great sipper and and notes of butterscotch and caramel. Almost burnt caramel. Quite sweet on the back end.

An ice cube really opened this one up.

What a great rum! The smell is that of a soft warm tawny port. The taste is not to sweet and smooth from beginning to end. It lingers a bit and you can experience it as a small after burn.

In my opinion, this was my expectation when I tried the 15y abuelo port cask, that was gasoline. So sip this instead!

Bolo mi to ponuknute od kamarata. A je to strasne. Mam rad sladke rumy, ale nech to je aj rum.
Toto je nejaka presladena, ani neviem akym sladidlom a velmi dofarbena emulzia.
V arome je citit len nejaka vonavka a alkohol.
V chuti iba to sladidlo.
Ani som nedopil pohar, musel som to rozriedit v pol litry kofoly.

Tasted at Havana 1920 in San Diego on 5-18-24. Pours clear. Weak aroma with more of an isopropyl burn when mouth inhaled. Not much there. The burn continues upon tasting. Hot and unidimensional. Not for me.

Not gonna write a deep review, as there are a lots of good comments which you can read below. My opinion is this release is better than 5 and 8. It's smooth, fairly priced and i have it constantly in my cabinet. It's a everyday pleasure!

Amazing rum from Savanna. On the nose is very fruity, you can smell a candies and tropical aromas as well. A lot of funk and smoothness despite the 57%. There's a warm aftertaste and it's quite pleasant. It's a interesting and different rum, not for everyone. However, if you like funky and high ester rums this is for you.

Very approachable rum for Daiquiri. I tasted a great number of rums for Daiquiri and at this price don't think any rum is closing the gap. It's a blend of Barbados, Jamaica and Trinidad. Always have a bottle in the cabinet for the purpose. You can drink it neat as well, but it's made for mixing.

Not every day you can taste Ecuador agricol rum. The aroma is of fresh olives and pickles. On the mouth is dry and catching some grapes. Very slight burn despite the 60% of abv. Long finish for a young rum. Absolutely delicious. I recommend and will buy a bottle again. I will watch the releases of this distillery with interest.

Finally had a chance to try this one, my bourbon drinking friend who won't really drink rum enjoyed it as well. smooth.

My first Black Strap Rum. What to do with it? Of course an illegal Dark N’ Stormy.
Raw I love the deep color and aroma. The taste is sweet with a nice finish. I was pleasantly surprised for the price.
Mixed it made for a nice relaxing drink to sip.

Tasted at Havana 1920 in San Diego on 5-18-24. Pours a cloudy reddish amber. Initial aroma to me right out of the bottle was vinegar and paper mache. But once I started sniffing it, I get giant toffee, caramel and treacle. Amazing complex flavors. Horehound candy and chicory. This is outrageous.

Aroma: sugar cured ham - brown sugar and pineapple, candied.
Flavor: finishes with dust and bandaid and sweetness. Sweet and lovely.
Tasting notes: let's talk about this complex and amazing rum. It's got smoke, sweetness, cedar, maybe chocolate if I squint - layers and layers. Totally recommend ❤️

Tasted at Havana 1920 in San Diego on 5-18-24. Pours clear. Fantastic aroma of dough and grass and just maybe a splash of mayonnaise. How is it that I’m tasting peppermint? Spicy black pepper and licorices. Strong, but it holds the heat reall well. Has a baked fresh bread finish. Very delightful.

Tasting notes: I'd serve this to a whiskey drinker, with a single ice cube, and they would decide that they liked rum. I would also drink it with an ice cube and a sprig of mint ❤️
