Multiple | Aged | 40% ABV | Pot and Column Still
Plantation XO 20th Anniversary rum is a combination of pot-stilled and column-stilled Barbadian rums that are initially aged in the Caribbean in ex-bourbon casks for 12-20 years. They are then transported to France for a second 12-18 months aging in small French oak casks.
The first bottle of Plantation XO 20th Anniversary was created for the head of Cognac Ferrand Estate Alexandre Gabriel to honor his 20th year running the company. This special gift has resulted in the bottling we see today.

This rum is a bit sweet for me. I am not good about identifying flavors but this one has anise/black licorice to my tastebuds that I don’t really enjoy. The rum is smooth and has some layers with a reasonably long finish.
I think if you like coconuts , you'll like this rum. If you don't, don't even try. It's as simple as that.
So I have to give it 10/10, I love the taste and smell, it is very pleasant to drink.
This rum has a special place in my heart as it was the first premium rum I remember buying for a dear mate of mine in Queensland. I wanted to get him something nice but I knew that he wasn't much a a scotch drinker so knowing that he being a true Queenslander enjoyed his beer and rum decided to go into town to the decent bottle store and get him something nice.
And I must say, I feel like as far as the price point went, I got lucky. I think at the time it cost me somewhere between 80-90 Australian dollars which I think is about the perfect price point for this rum (so hats off to the marketing team for figuring that out).
This rum is very nice. Quite smooth going down although it does have a wee bit of that tell tale alcohol whiff about it and I've gotta say, sweeter than a fat kids candy preference! The smell immediately hits you with caramelised banana and vanilla notes bursts with flavour. This rum makes a brilliant sun downer and its got just enough depth and complexity in it to be well and truely a sipper but not so over complicated that its pretentious.
If an 18 year old kid who knew nothing about good rums asked me where to start, I would suggest this and maybe the Ron Zacap 23 solera. Both are reasonably priced, good quality very top of the semi premiums/bottom of the true premium ranges and your unlikely to feel robbed.
A definite buy. Makes a wonderful gift.
Excellent rum all around. Very full flavor profile, yet not overbearing as some of the sweeter rums can be.
A simply stunning color and aroma as well. The various notes come through very strongly and clearly.
Throw it in a glass with some Gosling ginger beer and a lime wedge and enjoy a pleasant Dark and Stormy.
I know some will crucify me mixing this, but I simply had to try it.
Thid is heavy, rich and full taste. Fruits of different kinds
Smooth and neat rum with rastes of vanilla and honey.
Something that is needed at home
I received this as a Christmas gift; it didn't make it to the New Year.
Great on the nose, equally delightful to taste.
No mixing required.
I like how everything that I expected from rum is in this rum. Amazingly balanced. I only have a problem that it becomes a little bit... boring... but I think it's my personal problem, the rum is great ;)
Lots of banana and vanilla. Rich and velvety. It is also (very) sweet and is kind of boring after the first glass. I had trouble finishing the bottle, fortunately my wife liked this.
It tastes pretty much like a coconut liqueur.
"An overly sweet saccharin note which make the rum taste artificial. ."

This is not your average rum in a beautiful bottle. A softer nose and the taste is packed with complex flavors. A must have/drink for every rum lover
