This one is a simple, slightly spicy Demerara, a bit too devoid of any remarkable taste. On the nose, there is prominent alcoholic butterscotch, with an orange peel and a hint of wood, the taste is spices, then some emptyness, the aftertaste is short and slightly bitter. It can be sipped, it bites a bit, but it could be worse. Unfortunately there is nothing much to enjoy it on its own for me. When mixed, it tastes quite odd with coke. It is not bad with orange juice though. It is not entirely bad, but no reason to buy it again for me.
It has the carmel notes that exist in other demerara rums but doesn't quite reach their levels. It also doesn't have the complexity that other equally aged rums have. Definitely good for mixing and sipping in a pinch, but other better rums exist for the same style or the same price point.
Excellent mixer. Decent sipper, but not exceptional. This is a darn good price/taste value which I find a better buy until you go with the 21 Yr. El dorado. Very pleasant, indeed.
This is not a supper. But a work horse in any tiki bar.
Good solid rum for mixing, Got some taste to it and its a demerara rum, a fair good rum
Like Hamilton 86, this works as a Demerara mixer base rum. I give them both the same rating at this point, but I haven't been able to try them at the same sitting. If you need a Demerara as a mixer grab this or El Dorado 5.
This rum is a good one for a party if you're making a lot of cocktails. It's got a lighter rum taste, not super complex but definitely enjoyable. I prefer this to the 8 year
I always keep this one stocked in my bar, brown sugar, brown sugar and brown sugar. Great in a demerara dry.
It has a sweet almost fruity taste. .
"It’s tasty and fruity. There’s an overall taste a bit like the smell of floral gums."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Pretty clear this isn’t a sipping rum. I believe if you need something darker for mixing this is a decent choice. Older EDs are good for sipping, but I don’t think this even tries to pretend it’s anything more than a mixer.
