Appleton Estate 12-Year Rum is a blend of several rums aged between 12 and 18 years in American oak barrels after being distilled using small-batch copper pot stills.
The rum is produced on the Appleton Estate, which sits in the Nassau Valley in Jamaica. The estate’s origins date back as far as 1655 when the English overthrew the Spanish to rule the island and Frances Dickinson, grandfather of the distillery’s founders, received the land as a reward for his role in the overthrow.

wow im not one to get in to taste profile or nose profile but this rum kicks you in the nose wow !

Personally prefer more fruity tones, but even in comparison with other oaky rums this will not blow your mind. 1 point extra for very fair price.

I enjoy mixing this with another aged rum for a good traditional Mai Tai.
Nice every day sipper, not too offending and not too much funk/esters.
Still obviously a Jamaican with some ripe banana flavour!
Quite a strong banana/chocolate taste but a quite stingy alcohol finish, which i quite like but might not appeal to everyone. The fact that no sugars are added helps the pure "feeling" of the rum.
Edit: couple of months later and i have to give this rum a point higher. It is much more powerful and funky that i remember. A very typical navy rum . Maybe my palette was eased by lesser rums in the meantime :)
Not gonna buy it second time, wasn't anything special.

Harsh start, but rewarded with the fantastic smell of wallnuts, intriguing taste of orange peel and mace. And the amazing, deep colour! Really good sipper
