El Dorado 21 is produced near the equator in Guyana by Demerara distillery. The final product is a blend of rums, aged between 21 and 25 years and crafted using 100% locally sourced Demerara sugar. Traditional tools are used in the distilling processes including three unique wooden stills. The rums rest until maturity in 45 gallon oak casks.

Everything I love about rum in the bottle, caramel, vanilla, nice wooden taste, a little sweeter than the 15 years old. But for almost half the price, the 15 years old does everything perfectly, Stick to that one!
I love the El Dorado rums. Of all of the rum brands that I have tried these are definitely my favourite. I must say though having done a blind taste test of El Dorado 12,15,21 straight myself and a friend agreed that the 12 tasted just as good as the 21. With coke, there seems to be no difference. I love the 21 but would rather buy 2+ bottles of the 12 instead.

I love El Dorado products. This rum is no exception. The color is deep and rich, reminds me of the Ron Zacapa XO. However, unlike the Ron Zacapa, this rum melds the notes and flavors one comes to expect from a Caribbean rum, perfectly. Its characteristics are complementary; the oak notes meld wonderfully with its decadent vanilla and caramel on the nose. I've also found raisin on the nose! and I'm still searching as of this review. Its both sweet and spicy, with a light burn that dissipates in the back of the mouth. Its complexity is complementary. One doesn't expect the decadent nose to transform in the mouth to a dry oak, reminiscent of a Mount Gay, but its truly exciting to experience.
It will do didn't find it the best but it will do oh yea will do
Never tasted anything that would compare to this!
You will love it!
The color in glass is intensely dark brown, no doubt a result of caramel coloring.
The nose is fruits, leather, and an off-putting, turpentine-like odor that is quite peculiar.
On the palate, there is a lot of smokines, interesting balance between the dried apricots, plums, and smokiness. The mouthfeel, however, is surprisingly thin and the finish is shorter that expected from a 21 years of aging. The tannins are present in respectable force, but held back by the added sugar.
I would very much like to taste this without the sweeteners, but alas, rums today are what they are.
Not a bad taste on its own, just not an honest one.
Was a long term fan of the 12 yr old, then had the 15 yr old and didn't like it...too woody tasting. Preferred the 12 yr to the 15 yr. Another commenter explained that the 15 yr old is actually made in a different still, "double wooded", etc. It definitely reflects in the taste. Tried the 21 year old, and will have to say, it is hands down the best, as far as my taste is concerned. I keep going back to it. I would rank El Dorado as follows; 21, 12, then 15. For price, get the 12 yr old, for the best, get the 21 yr old.
'spice nose with hints of honey and dark sugar'

There is an extra layer of oak in the profile.
"Notes of oak and a slight spiciness also comes through. The rum is very smooth and easy drinking but complex enough to ensure you savour each sip of the drink. The finish is long lasting."

This is one badass decedent rum. Rich and full scents of figs, prunes, chocolate and brown sugar. The taste is even better! A sweet, oak, fig-like flavor that is bold and unique. Almost no burn, a very impressive bottle that you need to have in your bar. I dare someone to try this with a Mexican coke and tell me this is a not an incredible rum root beer float . It evens creates a surprisingly full โheadโ. A very solid 9!
