El Dorado 12-Year rum

El Dorado 12-Year

Guyana | Aged | 40% ABV | Pot and Column Still

El Dorado 12-Year Rum is composed of a blend of aged rums, all at least 12 years old. The rums are distilled using a combination of stills including coffey stills and a double wooden pot still before being aged in bourbon oak casks.

Demerara Distillers of Guyana produces El Dorado 12-year rum and is the country's last remaining distillery, with origins tracing back to 1670. The name ""El Dorado"" references the legendary city of gold that is said to be in the country's Rupununi region.

Mangler stadig at smage 21 års.

I can't believe this rum cost so little, for the price it's one of the best you can get. It's sweet but full, complex as it should be for 12 years. It would be 8 if it costed 20% more but I added the 1 extra point for El Dorado helping me enjoy a good rum on low budget

First sips make me feel it's too sweet, but further and further it blurs perfectly into spices and oak notes. Really great rum for ery good money!

Love the molasses, but that's my thing. Could drink this all night.

There are better rums. There are cheaper rums. But for the price (<$30), this is the finest rum you can buy. Great starter, delicious sipper. Neat, or on ice. Wonderful. Light taste, slightly sweet, smooth. Delicious aroma. Magnificent nose. There's always a bottle of ED12 in my cupboard.

in its prize category its a very good choice.
pros: honest 12 years old - so not a solera, sweet but not oversweeted
cons: stronger afterburn, missing body

73/100

I expected a little more sweetness, but if you consider a 43% alcohol you get a lot from the bottle.
