Guyana | Aged | 40% ABV | Pot and Column Still
El Dorado 12-Year Rum is composed of a blend of aged rums, all at least 12 years old. The rums are distilled using a combination of stills including coffey stills and a double wooden pot still before being aged in bourbon oak casks.
Demerara Distillers of Guyana produces El Dorado 12-year rum and is the country's last remaining distillery, with origins tracing back to 1670. The name ""El Dorado"" references the legendary city of gold that is said to be in the country's Rupununi region.

Tasting this rum against others in its class ,upped the rating for this one. It has a deep amber colour and a sweet nose. It is smooth to sip with a sweet caramel flavour and a hint of citrus. Makes me want to open the 15yo and the single barrel to try them all!
Decent neat and very sippable, better with a splash of water to balance some of the spices. Definitely a wonderful smell on the nose. Really shines in a strong mixed drink if you don't mind trying it.
Very nice smooth rum. But I wasn't a fan of the sherry taste at the back, it slightly put me off, otherwise I would have given an 8.
I'm a beginner in rums, and i like the sweeter kind, so this one is exactly on my taste. It's for sure a sipping rum, it's a waste to mix it with anything else. The aftertaste is also medium long, and i like to "wash" it with a sip of cola.
I preferred the Appleton Estate 12 for a long time before I decided to give this one a shot. I believe this will be my new daily drinker. At $30 it's a tremendous value for a 12 year rum that definitely shows it's age. Very complex and is a smooth drinker. Definitely worth picking up.
Reminds me of whiskey or burbon. I have this at home, i didnt study the bottle but i would say that it aged in oak barrels that were used for burbon. Not bad, but not what i expected. I think its heavy over rated, maybe cause a lot of people tryed it cause its cheap, but comparing to other rum i tasted its bit diffrent in taste. Or maybe its just me and the rum id not my thing. But i did like it when first tasted it in a bar.
This is one of my top 5 great sipping paired with a cigar and full of flavours
Very woody body. The last taste is too bitter for me. Very sharp notes.
Nice sipping rum for me.
Not sweet, more on the whisky side. Can t wait to try the El Dorado 15
Lush tropical fruit and spice nose with hints of honey and dark sugar...
