Guyana | Aged | 40% ABV | Pot and Column Still
El Dorado 12-Year Rum is composed of a blend of aged rums, all at least 12 years old. The rums are distilled using a combination of stills including coffey stills and a double wooden pot still before being aged in bourbon oak casks.
Demerara Distillers of Guyana produces El Dorado 12-year rum and is the country's last remaining distillery, with origins tracing back to 1670. The name ""El Dorado"" references the legendary city of gold that is said to be in the country's Rupununi region.

I thik for the price vs quality is one of the best choise, the high viscosity and the real swet caramel taste is giving the easy drink rum title.
Always a good choise !
El Dorado has a soft taste. For someone that doesnt drink rum this will be something def worth trying. Very smooth and doesnt burn or give you that strong after taste. Surelly will be purchasing more of these for my bar!
This is a good rum... goes down smooth and sits well. For me, it has a slight whiskey aroma ... a bit odd for my nose, but it doesn't hurt the drink.
A very smooth and very sweet rum, that has a fine vanilla and almost coconut flavor to it. I haven’t tried it yet, but I imagine it would make a great mixer as well as a fine sipper.
Beautiful dark color, thick and syrupy, vanilla, rum soaked raisins, very dark fruits. Extremely smooth going down. It's so sweet it's almost like drinking rum-raisin ice cream. After doing my research, it's fairly easy to understand why the sugar is added and why the rum is so sweet. I'm personally not against adding sugar into spirits with disclosure to customers. Rums like this is why sugar is added; it caters to a large market of people enjoying sweets. I thoroughly enjoyed this, but will likely not be buying another bottle due to personal preference of drier spirits.
I really like this rum, with Pampero aniversario it is the best for its price. I think it might be apreciated by rum beginners.
Aroma: Light, sweet and spiced
Taste: Well balanced spiced/fruity taste with specific tone, smooth, sweet but not too sweet.
Copared to:
Pampero anniverasario: Eldorado is bit more sweet, Pampero little more fruity
Diplomatico res exl.: Eldorado is less sweet and more full body
Great sipping rum, could not get better rum for this price
Lacks complexity compared to the El Dorado 15. No stand out flavor tones, just a solid, smooth rum. Perhaps the aging lends some welcome oakiness vs. a standard sweet rum. I could see this being used with a mixer without shedding any tears.
Found this rum to be more for mixing.. straight up was not as smooth.. but worked great for a rum and coke..
Lush tropical fruit and spice nose with hints of honey and dark sugar...
"El Dorado 12-Year rum review by Mike at Ultimate Rum Guide"
It’s sweeter with more delicate fruit flavours coming to the fore.
"It’s very sweet and quite light. It’s very easy drinking. As a sipping rum it as easy to drink."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

For those who like raisin and other fermented fruit aromas it’s a great pick, but for me too much fruit aroma, too sweet, too overloaded in a way. But still good thick juice from barrels, great for sipping and for sure perfect in a Mai Thai.
