El Dorado 12-Year rum

El Dorado 12-Year

Guyana | Aged | 40% ABV | Pot and Column Still

El Dorado 12-Year Rum is composed of a blend of aged rums, all at least 12 years old. The rums are distilled using a combination of stills including coffey stills and a double wooden pot still before being aged in bourbon oak casks.

Demerara Distillers of Guyana produces El Dorado 12-year rum and is the country's last remaining distillery, with origins tracing back to 1670. The name ""El Dorado"" references the legendary city of gold that is said to be in the country's Rupununi region.

One of the few bottles that I always have to hand. A great example of the style at an affordable price £40

The first time I had it, didn’t love it, so was hesitant to try again years later. Can’t find my Diplomatico so working through some other brands. I seem to have trouble with the Caribbean rums. This was fine and I would buy again if on sale. lol. On sale in Canada, ya, no such thing.

Caramel and toffee, sugary vanilla and a bit of spice. Smooth but not the smoothest in the price range.

This one is a very well made. A very pleasant sipping rum for a fair price.
Imo better then the El Dorado 15. Way less sweet but sweet enough...

Nose first a little flat but opens up wonderfully after 5-10 minutes in a cup. Rich and complex with vanilla, honey and molasse. After 15+ minutes there are hints of exotic fruites: banana, papaya and a little oak.

Taste is wonderfull, very well ballanced: honey and oak, not bitter nor dry, less complex than the nose but very smooth. Nice oily texture...

The finish is quite long: some oak, little vanilla, much honey and molasse, a little dry in the end but not bitter at all. Very inviting for the next sipp. Very very little afterburn.

Would buy again for 39.00$, but the Abuelo 7 that I bought together with this bottle was 34.00$ and was almost as good: less complex but with a richer nose and a more mouth filling texture and a little less sweet than the El Dorado 12. So I will go with the Abuelo 7 for my next purchase...

Na El dorado 12 som sa velmi tesil. Pil som 8 rocny a chutil mi, nebol sladky, a bolo citit, ze ide o demerara rum, El dorado 12 ma na mna prilis vela cukru, stale sa da velmi dobre popijat, sladkost ale prebija ostatne chute. Za mna max 7

I like sweet but this was a bit narrow in the flavor palate. Mixes okay but a little heavy on the aftertaste. I read some great things about this but find it lacking overall and prefer other more balanced rums at his mid-$30's US range.

El Dorado 8 year is a completely defferent taste and aroma.
Both are sweet but this one is more creamy. 8 year is solid brown suger caramel taste.
I prefer 8 year.15 year is more tastefull.

Great run for mixing at average price. Honestly no more oakheart or captain Morgan for me ever!
