El Dorado 12-Year rum

El Dorado 12-Year

Guyana | Aged | 40% ABV | Pot and Column Still

El Dorado 12-Year Rum is composed of a blend of aged rums, all at least 12 years old. The rums are distilled using a combination of stills including coffey stills and a double wooden pot still before being aged in bourbon oak casks.

Demerara Distillers of Guyana produces El Dorado 12-year rum and is the country's last remaining distillery, with origins tracing back to 1670. The name ""El Dorado"" references the legendary city of gold that is said to be in the country's Rupununi region.

I find that the 12 year, hasn't smoothed out enough. It still has that rubbing alcohol bit to it. Now the 15 year old is a different story, much nicer.

Great stuff. I use for all drinks that ask for an aged demer

Classic dark rum with a cocoa ending. Burns a little. A good sipper. Really sweet and simple. A beginner rum.

Personally, I generally like much thinner and less sweet Cuban Rum. This rum is the exception. It is thicker and sweeter than I typically enjoy, but it is definitely not cloying. In Canada, Ontario it is a bargain at around $ 43.00.

I have tried the more expensive 15 year old, which tastes more like a Cuban rum, but the subtle under flavors and thickness just don't work for me.

This 12 year old is in a category all by itself.

Good show !

Delicious over a glass of ice at the end of the day. Sweet and spicy with no burn. May be a bit sweet for some.

This rum can go in all the ways. Straight, on the rocks or in a mix. Nice a sweet but a great smell

This isn’t really offensive in any way, apart from perhaps being a bit too sweet. I can’t really taste anything much more than sugar. I’ll drink it, but only if there isn’t anything more compelling on offer.
