Guyana | Aged | 40% ABV | Pot and Column Still
El Dorado 12-Year Rum is composed of a blend of aged rums, all at least 12 years old. The rums are distilled using a combination of stills including coffey stills and a double wooden pot still before being aged in bourbon oak casks.
Demerara Distillers of Guyana produces El Dorado 12-year rum and is the country's last remaining distillery, with origins tracing back to 1670. The name ""El Dorado"" references the legendary city of gold that is said to be in the country's Rupununi region.

Well rounded and smooth. It is a great sipping rum. There is a good amount of sugar, but not overwhelming. Gentle oaky and nutty flavours.
This is a very nice Demerara rum. I've only ever tried the 5 year old of the El Dorado brand previously. This is a massive improvement, and at least where I live, a fantastic price for a 12 year old bottle. However, it doesn't hold a candle to Lemon Hart. I know that's a bit of an unfair comparison because of the proof difference, but I can't help making the comparison. However, I will not be sad reaching for this bottle.
There's something about this one.. The color, the heat, the flavor, the oh my goodness, I'm on vacation kinda taste... and it's just Tuesday, it's just you, it's just June, but it's just that good...
Smooth, rich, and just complex enough to place this above so many others in the same price class. No need for added sugars to cover up a lesser product like some of the mediocre, solera-aged products in the market; it stands on its own as a fine, aged rum. Stellar.
The underlying taste of this rum is unique a El Dorado, making it unmistakeable and quite easy to identify in any blind taste test. Heavy, almost syrupy on the pallet and complex in its profile. I think I prefer it over the slightly older 15 yrs old expression.
Nose of vanilla, banana and burnt sugar. Initial taste of spice and citrus flavours, reasonably smooth, spicy finish. Pleasant drink but not a head turner, better drinks at a comparable price point.
Fresh feel rum and sweet feel when u drink it feel good.
Lush tropical fruit and spice nose with hints of honey and dark sugar...

Much better than actual liquid gold would be. Works with whatever.
