Solid rum to mix or sip. Distinct flavor. Always in my rotation.
I barely get any funk that i expected in a jamaican rum. A bit sharp flavor and don't finish any better. It isn't bad in a tiki drink, the less funky flavor might work for drinkers who don't like that flavor.
I like this as one of 3 rum components in a mai tai. I prefer the 12 year. It's just ok.
Mild Jamaica rum, with a little sweetness. I prefer this one of all appletons.
Smell: caramel, oak, molasses, vanilla, honey, dry fruits
Taste: some oil, caramel, vanilla, oak/barrel, light sweetness (honey), light spice, some bitterness
Sweetness: 2.5/5
Spice: 2/5
Fruit: 2/5
Mildness: 3/5
Had this as the bar I was in only stocked this or Bacardi White Rum. Not much of a choice so I mixed this was Coke and made do. Not a great Rum but ok in a pinch.
I use the Signature and Reserve as an entry level tasting to hogo flavors. While this is definitely hogo in training wheels, it's delicious as a mixer or even on ice.
Decent in a Dark & Stormy but smells like rocket fuel neat
It tastes like rum flavored grain alcohol. Could not finish the bottle even as a mixer. Seems like the quality of the Signature Blend has really gone downhill in recent years.
This is a very good choice of rum for those times when you just need a bottle to drink before a night out etc. It has a similar taste and finish to the 12 year old rare blend however this one is nowhere near as smooth. It can be a little harsh to some, probably the reason the ratings are so bad but i still find this one enjoyable enough and much more interesting than the regular rums like Captain Morgan etc. The finish is also pretty good. It's not one of the best by any means but it's nowhere near as bad as the ratings and reviews on here suggest!
Well balanced and it is a quite subtle (by Jamaican standards) rum.
"The initial sip is quite smooth but the palate soon heats up and feels the black pepper again, this time with some chilli and ginger spice."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Its ok but does not doing anything special to the palette.
