What glass you recommend for the ultimate rum session(s)?
Only lately i started getting into that whole "correct" glassware thing. I have seen lots of discussions and suggestions, but i am mostly interested in the daily, practical, rum-drinker's honest opinion. I am mostly interested into the "sipping" rum category and less on the "sweet", "to mix" etc.
For sampling, i use the Bohemia Colibri 210ml, which is described as "tasting glass" and is usually recommended for drinking white wine. Reminds of Glencairn Copita a little bit.
For the "enjoy your drink at your leisure", i use the Bohemia Colibri Brandy Snifter/Balloon, 400ml.
They are both simple in design, with great utility and over the top characteristics (the stem can avoid hand-heating, ignoring it though you can hand-heat manually). Aromas reach your nose in the form of a rich, powerful bouquette, you can swirl it all you want, its size is just perfect, is elegant, looks dignified. Best rum i tasted in it: Black Tot 50th anniversary!
Others though recommend tumblers for rum. Or the Glencairn whiskey glass, especially the one with the cover-cap. What's your favorite, multi-purpose, go-to, glass for enjoying your rum? Why you think is better, against the other types? Hit me with your best recommendation, packed with a small presentation.

The old saying, rum will make you dumb! If it's good rum it don't matter what glass it's all about the rum!
I stick with the standard Glencairn. In small part because I find them easy to clean (all glassware cleaned by hand for me), and reasonably tough when "mishandled" as compared to stemware. I can get a little squirrley with the soap and sponge and glasses slipping out of my hands is not unheard of, ha, ha...
I also very much enjoy constant nosing while I'm sipping, so I find the Glencairn to be quite suitable for this, for (mostly) brown spirits.
I recently picked up a few sizes of snifter, but really just for tiki cocktails, have not tried them for sipping yet, and they're big (530ml and 660ml), so kinda overkill in that regard!

Yes! For sampling (20-30ml), i love it, Colibri 210ml is really nice! For the normal drink to enjoy over time (50-60ml) though, i love the Colibri Cognac glass 400ml; long surface, small opening, great for sniffing and very stylish!

Very true, hence me mentioning "sipping rums" and implying the trully premium stuff! Still though, certain glasses can smell better, help enhance taste and are designed to please both your senses and the spirit's organoleptic properties! I used to drink for a very average, very normal glass, that is like the simple small whiskey glass (the short and stubby, not the glencairn) and compared to the new ones i got, it was like drinking inferior quality stuff, despite it being the same.

Hmmm, i am very tempted to get myself a Glencairn as a pair, with a tasting cap. Although i do not mind the careful handling and am especially lighthanded, i appreciate its design and properties, especially since a great number of people recommend it! Thank you for sharing your experience with it! As for the Brandy Snifter/Balloon, you might need to locate a smaller one... They usually range from 200ml+ to 700ml+; my experience with 400ml glass is very pleasing! True enough, coctails find a great use in the bigger ones, i also have to try that sometime!

I have been using both the Glencairn and the Canadian Glencairn glases. Both available on Amazon for a fair price. The Canadian one has a maple leaf on the bottom of the glass and is far more open and larger.
I prefer the Canadian one since it opens up the nose much more and lets the rum breath a little. That being said, both are good choices.

Canadian Glencairn is for coctails, is it not? Still though, if one is to get the Glencairn, it would be a good idea to go for all three of them at once; Normal, Canadian and Copita! Hmmm that Canadian ones looks also tempting, i use spiced rum frequently and i like basic mixing! Is also perfect for ice-cubes, too!
in my opinion it is important to have a good glass for sipping rum (same for wine), but there are an infinity of brands around plus you can have a decent glass when buy some bottles of rum (bottle plus glass or two, like the montebello picture that stefan posted) and even cognac balloon glasses are good for rum, so spend to find a rum that you like, the glass is easy to find ...
