I'm sure this rum has a niche audience, but it simply is not for me. Definitely better on the rocks but has a superrrr funky taste, I guess as Jamaican rums tend to. Not too bad initially, but such a forward flavor on the back of the palate after swallowing that can only be described as if a bunch of 3 week old banana peels and a leather couch were fermented. VERY unique but probably would never purchase again.
This is an amazing rum and somehow makes a symphony around being fruity, funky, and dry Alm at the same time. Wonderful on the nose when you pour it neat and after it breaths for just a minutes it really opens up and releases the fruit and ester but not in a solvent way. Itβs smooth going down and hardly any sweet which is a good change for a plantation rum. Well done.
Heavy vanilla and caramel flavor, some banana, moderate black licorice spice. Typical funk from Jamaican rums. Light amber color
Nice run with notes of smoked banana. Drinks easy and smooth. Good for sipping
Fruity and funky on the nose, funky and pleasant dry fruitiness in the mouth. Dry and slightly bitter finish. Great value for the price.
Not so strong Jamaican, but very delicious. On the nose are some fruits and banana. These 43 % abv are there, and you will feel some little alcohol kick. The finish is strong and long as well, but not overwhelming. Great value for the price, definitely will buy again. Very good stuff from Plantation.
Not sure how to pair this rum as I bought on a whim.
I like it in a rom and Coke. One of my go to for that drink
A really nice spicy delivery.
"Quite spicy, quite a lot of heat β white pepper, ginger and all spice."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

It's not the first Jamaican I'd reach for, by itself or in a cocktail, but it's surprisingly decent. Not a massive funk bomb by any stretch, but sometimes that's what you want for a cocktail. Just a bit. It is dryer than most Jamaicans I've had, and works fantastically in a Mai Tai, where a bit of the hogo remains on the nose, but the flavor doesn't overpower the other rums in the drink, and just blends nicely together. A mainstay? Maybe not. Would I buy it again? Probably!
