Lightly funky. Dry, but that's about it. It's good mixed, but I don't see myself buying it again soon. If I want a lightly aged/golden Jamaican rum with some funk and character I'll stick to Smith and Cross and Hamilton Jamaica Pot Still Gold. This just doesn't keep up with them.
This is definitely not a rum for sipping neat or over ice. Perhaps the right mix would help. Terrible aftertaste lingers for what seems forever.
Not as good as most Plantation rums but very solid. Little bit stronger smell and taste but still smooth. Lingering after taste.
Scent: Immediately greeted with an appealing fruity, somewhat complex aroma. Makes me want to taste it.
Smoothness: Quite smooth, there is heat but not overwhelming, hint of wanting to burn but doesn't quite reach it. A bit of tongue tingle.
Finish: Prolonged with an interesting additional flavor becoming apparent which maybe the Jamaican funk - it is enjoyable and not overpowering.
Flavor: No sugar, dry, dried fruit, I notice a little sweetness presumably from the cognac barrels. All in all it is very drinkable neat. Other reviews suggest letting it sit a few minutes to bring out a deeper flavor profile. Rating: 7.5
Great representation of Jamaican rum. Perfect for tiki drinks.
Starts off with a bit of a whisky vibe and a kick. Then the aftertaste has some vanilla and banana to offer. Overall, decent, but a bit thin and too much alcohol taste.
Not going to the top shelf but lends a nice variety.
Nice colour and taste profile, i felt hints of roasted coconut wich i thought was quite nice
A really nice spicy delivery.
"Quite spicy, quite a lot of heat – white pepper, ginger and all spice."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Very meticulously well blended Jamaican. I agree that this bottle could make you believe it was a quite expensive Hampden release. The nose has some oak, grass, blackberries, cherry and a touch of acetone preventing a top score, but very nice aromas indeed. Well integrated alcohol, a bit lighter footprint than WP and Hampden’s offerings. Still nice mouthfeel and well composed. Flavours of fried banana, pineapple, hay, cherry and slightly charred wood. The cherry lingers a nice, medium long aftertaste. Impossible not to rate this an 8 price taken into account.
