So there you are in the liquor store, staring at the rows of rum and wondering which one will be unnecessarily added to your bourgeoning bar. You have more bottles than your favourite boozer but It’s an itch to be scratched and it’s not worth kidding yourself.
So if you are looking for light then you can do much worse than this.
It’s the full 80 proof which is nice and it works in what ever drink you choose. I like it with lime and sugar.
Slightly thicker mouthfeel than some and a fullness of flavour that is missing from some other light rums.

With a slightly golden tint this white rum is fruity on the nose and on the palate. It starts off smooth but as it goes down, there is some slight burn. You can't really expect much complexity because it's a white rum. But I've made a few daiquiris with it and I have to say it is the best white rum I've had. It's not just a hit of ethanol. There is actually some fruity tones. A lot better than other white rum I've had. This Cuban rum is perfect for cocktails.

When you order mojito in Cuba, this is what you get in your cocktail.

There’s a reason this rum is used in La Bodeguita and El Floridita in Havana. It makes pretty good cocktails. I don’t recommend this one straight or on the rocks. And: value for money.

I keep wondering what would people that rated this a 9, rate the Anejo Maximo? Not as bad as your Bacardis, but I'd pass on it, unless you want a clear colour mixer for your Mojitos. Strong taste of alcohol, mixed with the unique Havana Club flavor. Strong after burn. But, t be honest, price wise, it's hard to beat in it's category. Still, I'd pay just a bit more and get the Especial instead. The difference is quite clear.
