Appleton Estate 21-Year rum

Appleton Estate 21-Year

Jamaica | Aged

Distilled using small-batch copper pot stills uniquely designed for Appleton Estate, this rum is a blend of several rums aged 21 years in American oak barrels. Once blended, the rum is re-casked for two years to marry the flavors.

Appleton Estate 21-year rum is produced in Jamaica on one of the country’s oldest and most renowned sugar estates. Each bottle is individually numbered and comes with a signed aging certificate by master blender Joy Spence.

Gut ausgeglichen leicht fruchtig etwas süsse Anklänge und gute Holznoten spielen harmonisch Zusammen.
Genau so wünsche ich mir guten Rum und darum gebe ich hier auch 10 Punkte.

I was exited to taste this rum since it was a 21 but i mostly picked up the smell of rubbing alcool. The smell made me less exited especialy for the price i paid for it. This rum is dry and has no added sugar compared to other, but the finish is not great , almost like cheaper rum burning taste.

Aroma is one of the best without any sweetness. More subtle on the tongue than most but yet a full body with just a slight burn, very pleasant sipper though I may prefer a touch more sweet with my rum. This is more like a whiskey in some ways. Expensive for a mixer but I tried it with ginger ale, very enjoyable.

Compared 21 yr vs the 12 yr. The 12 smelled very alcoholic, almost like gasoline and not very pleasant or refined. The 21 smelled much more complex and delicious. The taste of both of them was very similar, but the 21 was much smoother and refined. Diplomatico exclusiva was still much better than both of these. 12 - 75+. 21 - 85+

Picked this up 20% off at duty free in Montego Bay after drinking Appleton signature blend all week. Very pleasantly surprised as the signature blend wasn't too outstanding.
Nothing too pronounced on the nose, a little harsh maybe
Quite burny on the initial taste bit mellowed to cotton candy, brown sugar, orange and raisin notes after a few sips. I like it a lot better than the last few bottles I've aquired for sure

Received this as a gift, by far one of my favorite gifts ever. Absolutely special. Tastes delicious, good any way.

After a trip to Jamaica and sampling many of the funky rums to be found in that part of the world, the Appleton 21 remains an all time favourite.
It is smooth, sweet and flavoursome, but not overpowering. It leaves you wanting more which often results in over- indulgence.

So let’s buy another.
Cheers
