Appleton Estate 12-Year Rum is a blend of several rums aged between 12 and 18 years in American oak barrels after being distilled using small-batch copper pot stills.
The rum is produced on the Appleton Estate, which sits in the Nassau Valley in Jamaica. The estate’s origins date back as far as 1655 when the English overthrew the Spanish to rule the island and Frances Dickinson, grandfather of the distillery’s founders, received the land as a reward for his role in the overthrow.

Goes down rather bitter. Otherwise a good rum. Probably not my first choice in this range. My palate may be off on this one, but it tastes oddly similar to The Real McCoy. Not nearly as smooth though. All that said, it's far from being bad.
First sipping rum I ever tried. I do recall a little after bite with this one. But I’d definitely buy more.
Delicious on its own or over ice. Makes me proud to be Jamaican.
Picked some up while passing through Jamaica and enjoyed it. It’s nothing super special or rare so not the highest rating, but you could do a lot worse.
It’s been years since I had this. Went to Mexico and came back with a bottle. Need to try a couple of other Appleton creations.
Rich, creamy, molasses, biscuity.

Pleasant rum but not exceptional.
not particularly sweet, rather dry,
not full-bodied, not particularly aromatic.
but still a pleasure to drink
A great authentic Caribbean rum. Not over sweet and I enjoy mine with a dash of coke.
But enough about me.
Somewhat oaky on the nose with toffee, pineapple and other citrus and some nuttiness as well as a fair degree of bitterness. Not sweet, this has the Jamaican funk well in evidence.
With a nice long finish this is smooth enough to sip but benefits from being hand-warmed in the glass for 5 minutes. Great in a Mai Tai, as others here have suggested.
Class
I was expecting something a lot better from this rum, being from the caribbean and aged 12 years, but i was extremely dissapointed, real harsh alcohol flavor, cheap liquor at a high price, do not spend your money on this.

The rum offers a lot of smoky spiced oak flavour.
"A nice note of cocoa and a little hint of vanilla. The rum is smooth yet spicy offering a nice kick. The finish is long and complex leaving a lot of flavour behind to savour."
