El Dorado 12-Year rum

El Dorado 12-Year

Guyana | Aged | 40% ABV | Pot and Column Still

El Dorado 12-Year Rum is composed of a blend of aged rums, all at least 12 years old. The rums are distilled using a combination of stills including coffey stills and a double wooden pot still before being aged in bourbon oak casks.

Demerara Distillers of Guyana produces El Dorado 12-year rum and is the country's last remaining distillery, with origins tracing back to 1670. The name ""El Dorado"" references the legendary city of gold that is said to be in the country's Rupununi region.

After opening the bottle it smelled like glue, still after opened it for a while. Taste was ok, but not as good as expected.
Since the bottle is half full the smell and taste is a lot better.

Affordable and solid vanilla and sweet on the palate.

Do not be discouraged by a bit of brutal aroma and take a rum for a moment in a glass. You will be rewarded with a very sweet aroma, in which the fruit mainly protrudes. On the tongue, El Dorado is gentle and leaves no odor. Someone may seem too sweet, but it suits me not only because of its carameliness. If you want decent gift for someone, who isn't rum enthusiast, you do not make a mistake with this twelve-year-old mix of rums from Demerar Distillers of Guyana.

Oak wood taste, also a bit like smoked or tobacco flavour, followed with orange and fruity tones, smooooth delicious, good one to me. No burns, great.

Velmi dobry rum, ktory patri do rumovej zbierky. Silne odporucam. Velmi lahodne pitie... nazdravie!

Yes, it is sweet, and a lot of that may come from added sugar. However, vanilla aroma is dominant and it's a wonderful sipper! for the price, it has to be one of the best examples of a smooth and flavourful rum that most people should be able to find quite easily. A little less good than the 15yr and clearly better than the 8yr, it is my go-to regular tipple.

To be honest this is one of my favourite rums the fruity nose and the smoothnes of this rum is great. Could sip this all day long. Also goes very well with cola. Great rum for the price and do highly recomend.

Nice golden demerara rum have gone through a few of these in my time. Good price at £33 Amazon next day. Good sipper or mixer. A personal favourite for cocktails.

A nice sipping rum with lots of oak flavour.. I like it and it's an easy smooth sipper but for my taste there is better for the money. Hence the 7 (would give 7.5 if possible).
