El Dorado 12-Year rum

El Dorado 12-Year

Guyana | Aged | 40% ABV | Pot and Column Still

El Dorado 12-Year Rum is composed of a blend of aged rums, all at least 12 years old. The rums are distilled using a combination of stills including coffey stills and a double wooden pot still before being aged in bourbon oak casks.

Demerara Distillers of Guyana produces El Dorado 12-year rum and is the country's last remaining distillery, with origins tracing back to 1670. The name ""El Dorado"" references the legendary city of gold that is said to be in the country's Rupununi region.

Yip this is the critter that started me off down the Rum track. Before this rum it was Bacardi or whatever was cheap. This rum at first shocked me because of the way it hits you up front and not being a previous rum aficionado was slapped off my seat. Now when i partake I find that this is an excellent rum. Not real sweet, nice nose, mouth feel, body and finish. Excellent neat.

This is a sweet rum so when I looked at all the comments I knew this was one for me.
It's nice and warm and smells great.
The taste is great and I really enjoy how smooth this one is and what the aftertaste is like.
If I would compare this one to a rum in the same price range though it would say that it's quite mellow compared to the Appleton 12 year because that one really is flavorbomb.

incredibile ma lo trovo addirittura meglio del 15 anni della medesima distilleria
Quindi perché spendere di più?
Uno dei migliori per qualità prezzo assieme al diplomatico

Heavy, smooth, sweet and spicy. On the palate it tastes like Christmas with raisins and oriental spices. Can't get much better for the money. One point gets substracted for adding too much sugar.

soft sponge sweet rum, oak, maybe a little, simple-minded, but that's nitpicking

Okay, there is a lot of sugar added here as others have remarked. I still like this rum as it is clearly aged nearly as long as the age statement indicates. You can't fake the layers of flavor and subtle complexities that are apparent. The only question I have is, why sweeten it up and make it only appealing to rum drinkers? Just give it to the world sweet and show them why you're one of the best El Dorado.

A pleasant surprise and great Demerara rum. Before this rum I had only tasted more Spanish style rums and this broadened my view.

This is i zipper and I am sure that you and your friends will like it, put forward a bottle and it will be empty fast! I have said it before and do it again.....the taste becomes even better and richer with dark chocolate!

This was one of the first aged rums I tried. It was very sweet to me at first, but after a few nights of giving it a try, it really grew on me. By the end of the bottle I came to love this rum. Strong vanilla aroma, smooth all the way through the sweet finish.
