This one has great taste but in the end itβs too sweet for my preferences.
Some members describe this as more of a liqueur than a spirit rum. I get that. I have served this to guests who are not rum aficionados and the result is usually the same - oh wow! The banana, caramel, and vanilla hit them in the face and the impression is typically favorable. So drink it for what it is - a rum, a liquor, or whatever. I would not mix this. This will be a rum that a newbie will appreciate as well as a more experience rum drinker in the right circumstances. Cheers! JW [My sweetness scale: Very Sweet]
First let me state that I love a bit of sweetness to my rum, but not to the point where it feels artificial.
That being said, if you like a "Sweet > Savory" rum and like strong banana in your rums, then this is the rum for you. I would give it a 10/10 if I had more premium rums to compare it to, but for $35 - $45 at my local liquor stores, this is a rum that you have to try!
OK...I'm not an experienced rum drinker but I know what I like. I am a mid-grade taster who appreciates products such as Zapacapa 23 and similar but no real sophistication (but I'm learning). I agree with most of the folks who grade Bumbu a 2 or 3 and consider it a "liqueur". Tell me if this is a sin but I took Bumbu and blended it out with Diplomatico about 1:4 and it tasted fantastic.
Probably a rum faux paux but I don't care...I'm not doing Bumbu straight up as I'd likely enter a diabetic coma!
For it's cost, it's awesome! Drink it on the rocks and think tropical thoughts. Sweet, light and delecious.
My first thought was this is rum for people that don't like the taste of rum.
I was very disappointed.
It's a sweet syrup. Would probably be good on pancakes.
My friend bought me a shot of this. Sweet, but not overwhelmingly so. Smooth, as the sugar is intended to do. I can see why people like it.
Taste was banoffee pie. All the way.
The nose smells very sweet. Llashings of caramel and toffee.
"It barely even tastes like alcohol in any way shape or form. No mid palate and definitely no finish not even the slightest hint of alcohol burn. Maybe a little bit of woodiness as it goes down."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

It smells like crumble and taste like apricot pie. And it is super sweet. I enjoyed that.. I believe that there are occasions for this kind of rum. Ladies will love it!
