Can't go wrong with plantation, just plain good rum for cheap price.
I usually buy the 5 year old that's made in Barbados and I've had some older version of there rum that are great. My local liquor warehouse was out of my usual 5 YO so I thought I'd try this and bought 2 x 1.75L. Wish I hadn't. This Jamaican rum is not very good. I usually drink my rum on the rocks but even mixing this it was still bad. It has a nasty after taste, maybe it's me as I see some ok reviews. Now I have over 3L of rum I'll end up tossing or give to a homeless person.
Plantation is my favourite rum at the moment and this original dark is also a nice one. It Smells very fruity, and itβs taste also like That. The aftertaste is still fruity but with a very little burn in it. What a nice one. And in the cola heβs the best. I give it an 8!!!
This was my first bottle, when I started tasting and "collecting" rum bottles and flavors. I like the smoothness, the vanilla and a little bit of cinnamon flavor. A little burn after you taste it, but is fine. Good price!
I've heard that plantation makes good rum, so I decided to buy myself a bottle, big mistake. First whiff singed my nose, and the taste singed my mouth, throat and taste buds If you want a sipping rum there are many better option than this particular bottle. Diplomatico or even Havana club is much better
Smells a bit like butterscotch and cherries. Tastes sweet with a taste of fruit and cherries. Pleasant but not outstanding. Would buy again for my regular rum but not sure of price as I bought as sample.
Its sickly sweet and quite cloying.
"Thereβs nothing complex in the nose just sweet brown sugar."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Which... Of course it's not. But as it turns out I love the heat of oftd. This has a similar dried apricot, dried peach, caramelized banana thing. It's lovely and smooth. Excellent neat. Pleased a few bourbon friends and a rum snob friend... All together a steal at the price and a terrific shelf staple for cocktails or sipping.
