Brinley Gold Shipwreck Spiced 4-Year

I was scouring the shelves in the local Total Wines and More store, when the store manager engaged me in a discussion of rums. Spiced rum is just low quality rum with artificial flavorings added to mimic high quality aged rums he said. Makes sense, but I tried Brinley's Shipwreck Spiced Gold anyways, I was looking for a better quality mixer. This is it, it is delicious. It is very similar in spices to Captain Morgan; with vanilla, nutmeg, and black pepper finish. But less burn, tastes much higher in quality, and mixed with Coke or fruit juice was outstanding. This is not a sipping rum, step up to Plantation XO 20 to sip perfection; but this spiced rum is the perfect mixer.

Absolutely perfect flavor. Sweet smooth with a vanilla and caramel body. Perfect color. Bottle presentation is fantastic. Makes me feel like I am back in the Caribbean again

Smooth, full of flavor, and reasonably priced. Not widely available in my area, so I always grab a bottle when I see it.

When looking for a spiced rum I have always gone with Captain Morgans and loved it. Then I tried this wonder full spiced rum. I will always keep a bottle of Captain on hand for my friends who enjoy it but this is my new favorite spiced rum.

Move over Captain Morgan: you have been shipwrecked! Lovely, lovely taste. Great winter rum. A little sediment in the bottom of the bottle, but nothing to worry about. Would recommend this rum to anyone drinking CM, and have given a bottle or two as gifts which has always been well received.

An all time favorite - this is delicious especially enjoyed neat. Fantastic example of a spiced rum that combines flavors such as brown sugar, caramel and some citrus notes with a smoothness going down. Caramel is prominent . Delicious aroma as well.
No imitation fillers.

For $20-$25 this is a great rum for a party if your wanting some good flavor and something a little different from your basic popular brands like Bacardi or Captain Morgan.
