Bacardi 8-Year is a blended rum, filtered using the Bacardi-pioneered charcoal filtering system and aged for eight years.
This rum was not released to the public until 1995, when the first limited edition Bacardi 8 was sold with a sherry oak finish in a Baccarat crystal decanter. Despite a price tag of $400 per bottle, the rum was hugely popular and led to the larger release of the blend without the collectors' features and price.

There are better rums for the same price in my opinion.
This is a decent every day sipper, or even mixed... and the price can't be beat
Very smooth and smokey.
Did I mention smooth, nice to sip.
For me better than Appletons 8 year old.
Drank a lot of this on a Princess cruise as this was the best that they had in some of the bars. Decent mixer with Diet Coke (No Coke Zero) :( The best Bacardi that I've tried.
The nose is very harsh, and so is the initial taste. Once you get over the solvent flavors, there is a nice butterscotch back flavor. I wouldn't buy this for sipping, but it might make a nice mixed drink

Smells sweet but also oaky.
"It is a well balanced rum. When sipped, or mixed with a little ice or water the Bacardi 8 is very decent. It’s very smooth and easy to sip."

What a regular rum with this age should taste like.
Surprised at how decent it is
