Bacardi 8-Year is a blended rum, filtered using the Bacardi-pioneered charcoal filtering system and aged for eight years.
This rum was not released to the public until 1995, when the first limited edition Bacardi 8 was sold with a sherry oak finish in a Baccarat crystal decanter. Despite a price tag of $400 per bottle, the rum was hugely popular and led to the larger release of the blend without the collectors' features and price.

Colour: gold. Nose: lightt, with touches of vanilla, sugar cane syrup, and ripe bananas. At least this Bacardi does not seem to wear too much make up. Mouth: smooth, feels sweetish at first, with a sour oaky side (peppery tannins), then we have vanilla and corn syrup. A little cinnamon. Finish: short, with quite some oak, as if the spirit was too light to stand this much oak.
Bacardi 8 años drinks nicely mixed with coca cola. Not really a rum to sip. Nice light color, little to none after burn.
Not as good as Bacardi select. Caramel taste, darker colour, better to use in cocktails.
Moje oblÃbené Bacardi. Výrazné banánové tóny. V závÄ›ru lehce kouÅ™ový.
Everything in the title. Not "bad", but not worth it. Maybe as your base rhum for generic cocktails.
Not big on Bacardi but I did enjoy the 8. Made a nice rum and cola. The price was right and would definitely buy it again.
Mix it with coke, and it will be a nice and smooth drink.
My review is for the new bottling "Carta Ocho", which is the 8-year rum of the new line.
I bought it because i read a very good review on a blog and i am very satisfied by this underestimated rum.
It is a balanced rum that goes well on the rocks, in simple spirit-driven cocktails and is even drinkable neat.
I think that at 20€ (i paid my bottle 16) you will hardly find something better.

Smells sweet but also oaky.
"It is a well balanced rum. When sipped, or mixed with a little ice or water the Bacardi 8 is very decent. It’s very smooth and easy to sip."

While not the best available to sip neat, Bacardi 8 is one of my favorite rums to mix with ginger beer or tonic...and I am not one to waste much mixer with a rum this good.! It's high quality at a very reasonable price.
