Travellers 5-Year

I hadn´t heard of Travellers before tasting this rum, so I came into this with an open mind, which often gives you the best experience. This turned out to be a pretty tasting rum.

Nose: Oak, spice and molasses
Taste: Oak, apricot and butterscotch
Overall: This is not the most complex of rums, but it is pleasant and it is affordable for everyone. I would recommend this as a daily sipper, if you want to try something new.

A basic rum, nothing much to write about. A funny butterscotch note visits the palate.

Duft af fad og røde bær. Smag af fad uden bid med lidt kokos. Smager som om den er blandet med vand. Lidt varme på tungen. Det må være fadet, men ellers tynd. En anelse smag af whiskey. 23. December 2018.

Hard to know what to expect from a 5 year old. Some are quite good. Others are downright swill. In Belize with an entire array of Travellers rum. Decided to start with this. It is thin like most Belizian rum. Not complex. No distinct flavor profile. Some wood. Some bite. Rough finish. Forgettable.

Primary sweet start to finish. Various tastes of heat, butter, maple, and wood spices pop up. Underlying metallic tastes faded quickly under sweetness.

Maybe this rum caught me on a really good day but this is one of those times I am wondering what the community is thinking? I'm very comfortable with my rating and was shocked to see such a low rating on the books. Coke didn't come close to the glass while I enjoyed this rum.

Travelers do a lot of rums. I've toured the warehouse, the smell of the barrels eeking out their vapour is incredible. This one offers a sippable advantage over a number of the other more budget lines. It's not going to light the world on fire, but its so reasonably priced I'd suggest a look.

Sampled thanks to Admiral Bill who brought it back from a recent cruise. Brownish gold in color. Caramel and tobacco aroma. Big buttery toffee up front. Lots of treacle sweetness. Smooth and easy to quaff due to the lower alcohol. Very delicious.
