Lots of alcohol up front, light flavor fading to a hint of butterscotch or maple. The finish is short. It seems as if it would mix well with coke but does not offer much for long slow sipping. Nose is the same as flavor.
Not all that much going on though. Short finish. Light body.
The nose is sweet vanilla, apricots, honey, tobacco and a hint of white oak, the taste starts with sweet apricot jam, then turns to leather and spicy, bitter, woody-tobacco kick. The aftertaste again starts sweet, and turns to spicy bitter, medium length. I would say there is a small amount of sugar added, under 15gpl. If you like rums from Panama, where the tobacco is usually one of the main components of the smell and taste profile, you will most probably like this one too. I would say it is a very different story from Don Q (also Puerto Rico), but for the money - why not. Score between 6 and 7.
Rhum correct en soirée. Un nez frais et caramel, au goût idem avec un léger boisé et fumé assez prononcé. La finale est sèche et un peu raide qui pique le palais.
I really like Bacardi Ocho. You do not have the complexity and the length of some premium rums but for the price it is doing the job very nicely. I really enjoy one shot on a normal weekly day to close the diner. Strongly recommended.
Simple, easy drinking rum. Nothing remarkable. Better than I expected maybe.
This was my very first entry to the world of RUM. We were on diving trip in Mexico and I know, that I don't like the Tequila. One day I saw this piece in Wallmart, so I bought one and it was not bad. Also friends were excited and we all imediately switched to Bacardi :) Next day happened something strange - they started the sale offer in the Wallmart "one bottle with two glasses in bundle"... Man, after some 10 days in Mexico, we left there maybe 40 glasses :) (BTW, the offer was really mad, if I remember, it was about 14 euro! for 0.7l) I took one bundle back to Slovakia. From this point, I started to collect and sip the rums and discovering the wide varieties of taste and smell... :) Now, after some years, I think that this is "a good enough" rum of big brand, but not definitely the best one of my collection.
It’s light, slightly floral. It’s quite a fresh nose with a lot of vanilla and light milk chocolate.
"There is a honeyed sweetness with this rum which does become a little cloying at times. That combines with a slightly bitter finish which becomes a touch over oaked."

Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

I should rate it 6,5 but i cannot. Drank it strongly chilled and and it's not the best way to taste it.
