This is without doubt one of the best (and most pricy..) rums I've tasted. It is complex and delivers an explosion of delightful flavours. Before this rum, I thought dry rum wasn't for me, but damn this rum proved med wrong. You barely notice the high amount of alcohol. It doesn't burn in your mouth, but you can feel how the liquid evaporates in your mouth and gets absorbed by your taste buds.

I will do a cross tasting with SVW 1996, ElD Albion 2004 and Skeldon 2000.
I know already the Enmore 1993 and Rum Nation Enmore 1997 (19y).

This nose is a little bit more similar to the SVW than Albion and Skeldon, because it’s more flowery and shaped. Skeldon and Albion are more mellow (or viscous), this one is sharper or clearer.

Nose: The smell is complex. There is caramel, orange zests and bright wood (the nutty Enmore wood). Also Bourbon influence, vanilla, dry fruits and flowery notes. Very good overall.
You can explore this one further and find even more aromas.

Taste: The taste
starts with caramel, dry fruits (orange zest and grape seeds), wood and tannins
. It's not viscous or just a little bit. In the middle the rum became more heavy, spicy and bitter. I get orange zest, bitter notes of tannins, Bourbon wood with vanilla and wood varnish. The mouth gets dry, it's like you are drinking a Foursquare.
The finish is spicy, wood, grapes, orange zests, grape seeds and flowery notes.
The aftertaste is quite tasty with flowers, wood, orange zest and dry fruits.

This is a very good and complex Enmore. It's sharp, not for beginners. It's flowery but not as the SVW 1996 and it's not as viscous as Albion. I would rate it with 93 points.

Sweetness: 2/5
Fruits: 3/5
Flowers: 2/5
Spice: 3.5/5

Complexity: 4/5
Value (185€): 4/5

Palate: Sweet, wild, complex, dry, dryed fruits, a little bitter, coffe, caramel, creme brulee, pruns, dark chocolate.

Finish: Fried fruits, fried banana, roasted nutts, burnt almonds, pepper,

Complex taste. Smell is super.
wood, vanilla, dried fruit, very important smeel. Better to be warm to taste, e.g.keeping the glass in the hand, can exploit better the taste and flavours.
Need to be rhum skilled to be understood cometely and appreciated. Not sure is good for beginners

Totally rocks, a great deep dark Enmore that leaves no issues. No sugar-sweetening, THANK GOD. Let the spirit speak, not drown it in sugar.

8,5: On the nose, the first notes we get are yellow fruits with tobacco, leather, nicely roasted with caramelized burnt sugar, some solvents and woody. Fruits are now red with cherry, prunes and becoming dry and the wood is toasted.
Aeration brings some herbal notes with cereal, darker side of this rum as charred wood, roasted nuts, licorice, chocolate, cocoa, walnut some confectionery and candied fruit and finally becomes just a bit metallic and smoky.
8,6:On the palate, the first impression is a syrupy, very fruity and spicy rum with yellow, red and then dried fruits. I reminds us on bourbon. The spices are sweet and warm. The wood is toasted and rum becomes more roasted, burnt with caramelized burnt sugar and some metallic notes. It is round and balanced. Chocolate, cocoa, nuts and some orange peel emerge.
8,8:The finish is very long, balanced, elegant with dried fruits, red fruits, caramelized nuts, chocolate, toasted wood and roastedness.

This bottling of El Dorado Rare Cask is an Enmore that was produced in 1996 in the Wooden Continues style and was stored for 21 years tropical in Ex Bourbon barrels. Subsequently, the rum was bottled as a single blend in 3000 bottles with a cask strength of 57.2% alcohol without additives or filtration.

On the nose, the rum is hardly distinguishable from the 1993. I get dried fruits, vanilla, caramel and confectionery. But also orange peel and some solvent, which distinguishes it from the 93. Add Demerara sugar. A very nice nose. On the palate, the rum has a fuller body with candied fruit, caramel and a nice woody influence. In addition, prune, roasted aromas, leather and nut. The rum is powerful and full-bodied. The finish shows more wood with nut, leather, dark chocolate and some pepper. The rum is dry and slightly astringent.

A very nice Enmore, which clearly surpasses the older brother. Almost the same on the nose, the 1996 then shows a much higher complexity and a full body on the palate. The influence of wood is more noticeable and the finish is nice and dry, which is also the case with the 1993.
