Plantation XO 20th Anniversary rum is a combination of pot-stilled and column-stilled Barbadian rums that are initially aged in the Caribbean in ex-bourbon casks for 12-20 years. They are then transported to France for a second 12-18 months aging in small French oak casks.
The first bottle of Plantation XO 20th Anniversary was created for the head of Cognac Ferrand Estate Alexandre Gabriel to honor his 20th year running the company. This special gift has resulted in the bottling we see today.

Den er ganske enkelt fantastisk og er klart en klasse rom som kan anbefales.
being badged for Spirit of the year 2016 ,i gave it a try! Very good stuff still not one of the greatest!!!
Complex Rum with the Taste of dryed banana, coconut and molasses. Fine nose. Little burn. Reminds me a Little Bit of a solera. Great for sipping or as a present. Bottle is uge. Top Value for Money!
Bought this one tax-free on the boat returning from a vacation in Norway. It has just the most beautiful bottle, which immediately sets the right mood. As it is on the list(s) of rums with added sugar, I was afraid it could be just a little overly sweet, but i found the sweetness very well balanced, nice dry-ish.
The nose was not really strong, but it's more like pleasant teaser / preview of what you are about to taste. And it backs up the taste very well... what you smell is what you get! It is fruity and tropical, but there's oak and smokiness too. The burn is good, meaning it is not too much but it still has that bite, which transitions quickly in a lovely lenghty aftertaste.
It is quite different in comparison to one of my favourite: Mount Gay XO, but I think this one wins on details. Considered that ratings can only be given in whole points, if either one deserves a 10, it's this one (although i was tempted to reward Mount Gay with a 10 as well).
Vanilla, caramel, really fun complex taste. I tried it neat in a cognac glass and it was a bit much. In a more open whiskey glass I was really able to appreciate the complexity without being overwhelmed. I imagine this is as smooth as rum can be :)
Has a pleasant amber hue and first taste a vanilla and coconut but everything you are looking for in an XO
Er meget sød og smager af kokos. ikke lige min kop te
Definitely an oak odor. The flavor is very good balanced. Not overly sweet. Good strong but not overpowering burn which fades quickly and then the smooth, rich, golden brown liquor goes down like oil.
Den er super, der er en dejlig sødme smager helt vildt godt
It tastes pretty much like a coconut liqueur.
"An overly sweet saccharin note which make the rum taste artificial. ."

To start, a nice vanilla smell in a great looking bottle.
Then for the most important part, it is smooth and sweet (lot of added sugar) but not too much like some (I downgraded my Diplomatico after tasted this), with a strong and beautiful caramel and vanilla flavour.
Actually it remind me a lot of the vanilla "rhum arrangé" I make, but cleaner and smoother.
