Cant believe the 7.5 rating. This rum is damn good without being cloyingly sweet as some of the top rated rums on this site. Sip it neat. I'll be getting more when I go back to the Caribbean.

Havana Club Selección de Maestros is not a bad rum it's just a tasteless one. Very smooth and mild. The taste is not that sweet, which I prefer. At 45%volume I can hardly even notice the alcohol. Over all there is not a bad word I could say about this rum, however I expected to find something else than just a good but tasteless sipper. At this price range there are better options, but I still might come back to this from time to time.

Very good flavor and taste. Smooth and very well worth the money invested.

Recently bought seleccion de maestros, found it very good with coke but not for sipping.

A true representation of fine cuban rum. Recommend neat or as an old fashioned.

Насколько я понял, правильно пить его следующим образом: во-первых, дать подышать минут 10-15, во вторых - добавить немного прохладной воды, чтобы градус опустился до 38-40%, тогда вкус и аромат раскрываются по-полной и ром становится по-настоящему питким. В целом, он скорее терпкий, чем сладкий. Аромат яркий и насыщенный: фрукты - слива и вишня - перемежаются с кожей и табаком. Сложный аромат, требующий времени, чтобы распознать все его оттенки. Вкус смягчается и раскрывается после добавления воды. Нотки табака и дерева, немного цитрусовых, жжёного сахара и шоколада на заднем плане. Послевкусие интересное - дуб, ваниль и слабеющие фруктовые оттенки - остаётся после того, как исчезает спиртовое жжение (а оно, увы, присутствует даже в разбавленном варианте), со временем сменяется солёным шоколадом.

Если не добавлять воду, спиртяга перекрывает все остальные компоненты.

Великолепный цвет - благородное красное дерево - к сожалению, теряется при добавлении воды, но на эту жертву приходится идти.

Это не ром на каждый день, и не ром для весёлых посиделок в компании с друзьями, это ром для уединённого отдыха с соблюдением всех необходимых для его питья процедур.
В целом ром очень хороший, но цена его завышена.

As far as I understand, the right way to drink this rum is as follows: first, let it breathe for 10-15 minutes, second, add a little water to reduce alcohol percentage to 38-40%, it will make taste and aroma reveal themselves and make this rum significally smoother. Generally speaking, it's more harsh than sweet. Aroma is rich and strong: plum and cherry are present as well as tobacco and leather. Aroma is complicated and it takes time to fully sense it. Taste becomes mild and exposes itself after adding some water. Wood and tobacco notes, some citrus, burnt sugar and chocolate in the background. Aftertaste is iteresting: oak, vanilla and diminishing fruit overtones stay after the disappearing of spirit harshness (unfortunately, it's still present even after adding water) and are smoothly replaced by saulty chocolate.

Without water spirit harshness burns everything out.

Colour is beautiful - noble mahogany, but sadly it's lost after adding water. You have to make this sacrifice tho.

It's not an everyday rum and it's not a party rum, this rum is for a quiet private rest in complience with all it's drinking rules.
A nice rum afterall, but overpriced.

A little more burn than I expected. less sugar added than other HC rums.

Quite okay from all their artillery, price could be lower.
