Havana Club Añejo Especial is a blend of rums aged for up to five years produced from the fermented molasses of sugar cane harvested in Cuba. The molasses is combined with yeast and water, distilled using column stills, and aged in white oak barrels.
Havana Club was founded in 1878 by Jose Arechabala and later nationalized after the Cuban Revolution in 1959.

It is a standard in Cuban resorts. A fine rum for mixing. A little too harsh for sipping. I have a few bottles under the bar that are used for mixed drinks.
definitely fine for cocktails, as a pure drink in glass - bit too sweet and you can tell there are many things added, well for me it is a basic rum drink but nothing for sipping and tasting, just to mix or to get drunk :-)
Not a favorite on ice or straight but the perfect rum for Cuba Libre.
Bought once, but never again. Havana 3 and 7 are both better choices for mixed drinks.
For me this one is perfect to experiment with! It’s soft enough on the tastebuds so when you want to add other things you can easily manipulate the rum! So the 7/10 for me is When you mix it up!
Eigenlijk is alles van Havana Club goed. Ook deze is lekker weg te drinken. Niet al te zoet (jammer ;)).
Smooth balanced and enjoyable. Of the 4 bottles I brought back from Cuba, this was my favorite. I could never place the flavor though.
Drank a lot of this while living in Angola and was only 1usd a bottle, lol. How i wish i could buy at that price again. Great with coke.
Ok for mixed drinks I guess, since I prefer the pure stuff and rarely mix, not one I will order again..

Some oaky spicy notes.
"It’s very heavy with vanilla and the caramel and brown sugar notes are too much. The rum is quite smooth and not very rough."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Not a sipper, too young and slightly harsh.
But in cocktails this is really nice.
Toffee vanilla and fruit, slight tobacco note with little kick.
Very good value mixer for cuba libres.
