Havana Club Añejo Especial is a blend of rums aged for up to five years produced from the fermented molasses of sugar cane harvested in Cuba. The molasses is combined with yeast and water, distilled using column stills, and aged in white oak barrels.
Havana Club was founded in 1878 by Jose Arechabala and later nationalized after the Cuban Revolution in 1959.

In my thirtieth birthday, I bought two whole boxes. People liked the taste of the cocktails. Sure better than Bacardi! Definitively a decent rum, but for mixed drinks only. Affordable price.
my judgement is not fair with this one... It remembers me my vacation in Cuba with my friend on the terrace of the city of Trinidad .... Miss that time with this rum and in nice cuban cigar
this rum in my view is a great one for mixing and a resonable price.
This rom is really good for mixers or cakes. The aftertaste is to alkoholic for a sipping rum, I think.
Just a got a bottle of this one from my relatives in Cuba. Not a sipper in my books any longer. Much lower quality that the HC7. Fine for mixing especially if the bottle was purchased at local prices within the island. Currently does not sell in Ontario, Canada but Ontarians are not missing much by not being able to try this one.
Decent rum for mixing with cola. Might want to use the Reserva/7yr instead for yourself and your better friends.
...but compared to the other cheap rum I've tasted (Saint James Royal Ambré), this one is definitely better. Not a great rum but at that price, there's no miracle...
good rum to drink with a coke cuba libre as they call it

Some oaky spicy notes.
"It’s very heavy with vanilla and the caramel and brown sugar notes are too much. The rum is quite smooth and not very rough."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

For me this rum was something I had to get used to, found the flavours of this anejo rum very strong. Eventually it did grow on to me, be it with mixed with coke.
