Rich aroma and complex taste but very strong. With a bit of water it gets better
Perfect Overproof with depths and fruits. Best bang for any bug. Deliciouse!
Plantation O.F.T.D is definitely something else. Despite the fact that it has an alcohol content of 69% I didn’t knew what to expect.
First touch to the lips is just wow. I’m honestly really surprised that it could be as good as it was. It also has this burning sweetness to it, but I’m recommending a couple of water drops or a very small portion if drinking it clean.
If you want to try an over proof rum, this is the one
Sipping: a little bit too strong, but considering the alcohol amount - it has a lot of flavour. It has a bit of fruity funk, fresh plum I would say. Just a bit too salty.
On the other hand it has some mid-dark notes also(not woody though, rather raisins, caramel), but it is not as dark or bitter like Pusser Navy.
Mix: blends very well, in natural way, it is 'average' rum- I don't feel anything unique about this rum compared to others (maybe the salty caramel), but it is very good.
If you don't mind strong rums, I would say this might be nice to entry point to understand the Jamaican Funk. If you prefer more mild, smooth rums, Appleton 12 Rare Blend might be better(I actually think OFTD has more so called fruity-funk).
Smith&Cross has much more funk and flavour, but I guess it is more love or hate, while this one might be pleasant for many.
Considering the price, it is one of the best rums imo.Oh, and I prefer this to Foursquare 2008, of course that can be a matter of my taste, but it is simply nicer.
Notes: Salty caramel, fruity funk (Jamaica)
Wood: there is some in the background, some dark notes, but not much apparent
Fruits: fresh plum, Jamaica funk
Sweet: medium
Kick: high, but not harsh
Salty: high
Flavour: high
Aftertaste: medium-long
Wine: none
Funk: high
I expected a lot from this one but what was the outcome? One quite disappointed rum drinker... It has got very basic rum taste with a raw sugarcane aftertaste. The same ones you would expect to have after drinking something like the cheapest Captain Morgan. And the same when blended with Coke. I am not going to recommend this one.
I’m using this as a substitute for 151 Demerara rum. It gets the job done! Jet pilot ✈️ is the go to for this one.
It’s very intense, almost sickly sweet.
"It’s a sweet yet almost bitter, molasses heavy nose."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

At first I thought that being overproof it would burn my mouth and my insides. Amazingly it was extremely smooth and so potent that the aftertaste lasted for a good hour! Rich plum flavours with burnt caramel and vanilla galore! I recommend you should pair it with some cold melon, the taste is out of this world!
