Well it is smooth and a bit sweet. By far the best appleton Ive had yet. This is simply a case of you get what you pay for.

You definitely taste the aged oak, nutty, with a dry finish. Very smooth and finishes with a oak linger.

Jedná se o blend rumů starých min. 21 let. Každý rok je vyrobeno pouze 12 000 lahví ručně očíslovaných.

Aroma: Med, malinko alkoholové ostrosti, zatuchlé dřevo, bourbonovitost
Chuť: Dřevo, med, vanilkové tóny
Dozvuk: Medově dřevitý, trochu sušeného ovoce (rozinky)
Sladkost: 0/3
Vzorek #18 z RumFest Praha 2020
Výrazně bourbonovitý rum - velmi připomíná stylem barbadoské rumy.

The Appleton Estate 21 is a molasses blend of pot and column style rums, which were aged in oak barrels in Jamaica for at least 21 years. The rum is bottled with 43% drinking strength. Only a limited number are bottled each year.

The Appleton has a great nose. Despite the dilution, the rum is intense and balanced. Floral notes combine with wood, light ester, baked fruit and also a nutty aroma. Earthy and heavy, the rum makes a lot of fun. On the palate, the rum has an exciting taste profile. A caramel-fruity sweetness is combined with a lot of wood, fruit, slightly tart cocoa note and some pepper. The finish is medium long with lots of bitter substances, dark chocolate and wood.

The Appleton Estate 21 is a great premium rum that brings an excellent body and intense flavors for 43%. Only the relatively short time, which the aromas remain in the mouth, is a bit of a pity. Trying the rum in cask strength would be amazing. The relatively high price is completely ok for the age and the rum is worth it. Delicious.

Lecker.

I was truly excited to find this bottle after a modest search over the past several weeks. The presentation is outstanding. The blue container is something to behold.

However, the deep admiration was soon halted. It's a remarkable rum, just not enjoyable.

The 12 year old tops this one.

Oak, spice and molasses on the nose, but the palate is less clear with a pretty good burn.

Still worth the price of admission, though.

Having drank Zacapa 23 for 1/3 the price, I found this extremely disappointing and off-putting. It has a very hot profile that makes the subtlety of the rum flavors all but disappear in the alcohol burn. Perhaps in a bourbon, this would be acceptable, but it really detracted from the experience and left me wondering why in the hell I dropped 120+ on this bottle when I could have bought 3 Zacapa 23...
