Guyana | Aged | 40% ABV | Pot and Column Still
El Dorado 12-Year Rum is composed of a blend of aged rums, all at least 12 years old. The rums are distilled using a combination of stills including coffey stills and a double wooden pot still before being aged in bourbon oak casks.
Demerara Distillers of Guyana produces El Dorado 12-year rum and is the country's last remaining distillery, with origins tracing back to 1670. The name ""El Dorado"" references the legendary city of gold that is said to be in the country's Rupununi region.

Av dessa tre är den 12-åriga kanske förvånansvärt nog den bästa. Helt enkelt en suveränt god rom! Bra med tanke på att den kostar minst av dem:-D! Den är ju då dessutom oerhört prisvärd! Bland mina top-tre just nu.
Sans le recommander à tous les repas, ce rhum est de loin le couteau suisse des rhum. Il saura plaire à tous. Un petit rhum abordable qui saura dépanner sans vous ruiner.
Great expectations for this rum only to get an overly sweet sugary alcohol drink. Not to complex flavors (black sugar - fruits and a bit of tofee) leaving behind just the taste of water washed sugar.
If you want to know how it tastes without buying it try this: put a candy or a lollipop in your mouth for two minutes. Now add a drop of alcohol and wash out with water. There you have it! El Dorado 12 years!
This is not the way a rum should taste. A big disappointment...
For those who want to enjoy a cigar with a rum this is not the right option.
This rum offers some of the best value for money rum out there. It works fine as a sipper, and is inexpensive enough to be used in cocktails.
Ikke smagt. .
En dejlig velsmagende rom i den søde ende til billige penge.
Tää rommi on kyllä ehdottomasti parasta luokkaa. Kova kisa esim. Plantation XOn kanssa.
I love the Navy bottle, and what it holds. Initially I found 12 years in oak casks had invaded the aroma but only momentarily, then Irish whiskey and bourbon took over as the first flavors. Why Irish whiskey? Well it was St. Patty's and I had been at a little bit of the bottle of good Irish, but really that had been earlier and only the memory of that taste remained. This was good rum, well balanced with hints of fruit and honey. Yes it is sweet but not overly so, I highly recommend it neat.
This is my go to rum that I've been drinking for ages and considering the price compared to the ED 15 you just can't beat it. I mostly drink it straight up but also add it to mixers when I want to add something special to a drink. My only complaint is like most of the other ED rums is the added sugar but I think the 12 isn't as bad as the 15 or the 21 but do realize that this rum does lean toward the sweet side.
Lush tropical fruit and spice nose with hints of honey and dark sugar...

It’s sweeter with more delicate fruit flavours coming to the fore.
"It’s very sweet and quite light. It’s very easy drinking. As a sipping rum it as easy to drink."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

I used to love the Diplomatico Exclusiva rum, but as you delve deeper... it is after some time just sweet and otherwise a little bland. This rum is similar, but apart from the smoothness and sweetness it gives such a lot of various tones and flavors... mainly almonds (slighty bitter) and the barrel-taste (woodish tones).
Try and compare ;)
EDIT: Moved to 8/10 once I tried El Dorado 15 (9/10) and letting an open 10/10 once I taste 21-year old ;)
