Bacardi white rum, the first white light rum invented by Facundo Bacardi in Cuba, 1862.
Now we still have the name, Bacardi, the rum is still white, but they made it in Puerto Rico and it's probably the worst light style rum that you can find.
Choose the quality, not the brand.

Plain alcohol labelled 'rum', better quality than most generic branded white rum and is useful for making school girls think they are classier than their friends on vodka.

2023 update.
Over the past few months I have discovered myself warning people in super markets reaching for this and recommending far better choices (in my local super market they have the Havana Club spiced quite cheap, even morgans spiced is a better choice, and if they can stretch for something particularly easy drinking such as duppy spiced, kraken etc or if they insist on a white rum, many places in the UK are now stocking Havana club 3yr white, or Wray and Nephew). I have realised that it is now my duty to prevent people buying such awful things to consume, I hope others can take this mantle also. The most common comeback (especially from youngsters) is 'she will go mental if I dont what she asked for'. To which I provide you with this adequate tool should you need it.

"Tell her "this big dude was basically going to punch me in the face if I bought bacardi blanco and kept following me around, and he said this is better, both in flavour and for my health, don't you care about me babe?".

/Best part is, they wouldnt be lying.

My rum adventures started with this one right here. The most popular brand (in my country). I liked it then, but when you try some aged rums you quickly want to forget this one. It's ok for mixing but you can buy some better rums for the same amount of money. Ok for a white mixing rum, clean taste. 5/10

The taste is very raw. Just for mixing. Could be suitable for Mojito probably.
I'm fascinated someone gave 10 to it.

I think this makes a good mojito. Wanted to test other bottles but here in Brazil is pretty hard to find rum.

A bartender friend made me a kickass cocktail with some lime liqueur and a coke, mixed it to perfection. Now, trying vodka and this immediately after confused me a bit, but i could never confuse the two. Very harsh reviews from everyone else. Deserved? Eh, I'll have to try it clean with ice to decide, for now, it's a 6.

It is definitely not a good rum, but come on... Having a rate under 3 is overkill. This rum is at least decent in cocktails and surpasses many other rums that have higher ratings here.

I tried it in Pina Colada and with coke and they both turned out well. The taste is very similar to your average grocery store rum aroma essence but it isn't necessarily a drawback when we talk about a rum that is exclusively for mixing and not for sipping. That said you'll probably find better mixers for this price (or even cheaper).

Not much to say really, it's just bad, and not in a good way

Unfortunately this is the default answer to my question "do you have rum?" Usually I'll choose not to drink, but in a pinch, there's always a can of coke with a squeeze of lime to make it palatable. I guess. I usually prefer to keep the gasoline for the car.
