I like this rum alot. It is smooth, while not overly oaky. Starts like other Doorly's offerings, aroma of vanilla, perhaps hint of stone fruit. Flavor is smooth, very little burn neat, similar to aroma vanilla, perhaps some caramel. Makes a good rum & coke, perhaps a bit too smooth for mixing. Usually I like the rum and coke with a more assertive rum. Doorly's is probably too cultured for that role.
Awesome rum. Not to sweet. But no whiskey taste either
Really well done.
It is not very easy to find.
I compared it side by side with the XO .... for me, the XO is smoother and the sherry notes make a difference.
Doorly´s XO is more pleasing to my taste, and cheaper.
There's a blend of spice, sweetness and cask in the aroma. The taste follows suite with a rich taste of caramel, spice and dry nutmeg, but finishes on a bitter dry whiskey note. Would be a pleasure for whiskey lovers.
Almost all rums from Barbados are excellent, this one is a great value and smooth tasting.
Would love to see this one stepped up in proof but as is it isnt special to me. I can see where others would rate it higher. Even 86 proof would be world's different I think.
This rum is aged for 12 actual years in American small white oak barrels and has no sugar added. At the sale price of only $24, this rum sounds too good to be true. Well, the old saying of spending too long in the wood applies here. Too much oak almost ruins this rum for me. I can only rate it as a 6 at best. I find it nasty even with water. I will try their 8 year whenever I find it, but I won't go back all the way to Nevada to get it.
A very smooth, easy sipping rum. The long time in the barrel trades some of the caramel and fruity flavor of younger Bajan rums for oak, dark cherry and chocolate flavors. Complex and mouth coating, an ever evolving experience - from molasses to leather to cherry cola and somewhere beyond. Really quite exceptional for something under $50
Familiar notes of vanilla and light toffee/caramel.
"An initial hit of sweetness, brown sugar and a little spicy pepper is overtaken by dry oaked flavour and a nice spiced heat. The finish is very smooth and long lasting."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Unless you wanna ruin it, do not mix it! Elegant and smooth, very enjoyable.
