Plantation 2012 Single Cask Jamaica Calvados 11-Year

Decent Jamaican rum, but the Calvados finish doesn't really add much in this bottle. I was actually surprised that this is aged for 11 years, because if I was to guess I would have said around 5. Too harsh on the finish to be sippable. It'll make for a fantastic mixer, but not really worth it for this price. Better than the Plantation Xaymaca, but not as good as the Orange Wine Cask finished Jamaican that they released previously.

Fresh, easy, maybe floral on nose. Palate gets hot for the first second and more hotter later, but it doesn't bite. Its smooth and pleasant. Close to zero of Jamaican funk. Wide spectrum of notes - fruits, nuts, apple, spices. Aftertaste is the same as on palate and it's long.

Pretty good sweet rum with a bit if the Jamaican funk, but the brandy finish is welcoming. Finishes well with the Calvados which adds a woody punch to mellow the Jamaican vegetative flavours. There are certainly better rums for the price but its unique and refreshing.
