8,3:The nose is frank and woody, but a sense of balance is immediately apparent. This woodiness is tinged with caramel and molasses, simple and classic aromas that are not disturbed by a sensation of sweetness or alcohol. The latter is well-integrated, accompanied by a slight solvent aspect that gives an impression of concentration and impresses the aromas well. Classic, then, but not necessarily too light. The nose opens with rounder notes of coconut, the woodiness melting into milk jam perfumed with orange peel and sweet spices (cinnamon).
As the rum spreads out around the rim of the glass, it becomes more airy and floral, and then it's the nuts that stand out this time. It's a rather pleasant, well-balanced, mellow but not sweet. Coconut now becomes a constant, returning each time you rest your nose on the glass.
7:On the palate, the texture is light, the attack marked above all by a very toasty woodiness that quickly takes hold of the taste buds. The entry is straightforward and straightforward, with the wood leading the way, soon supported by a spicy, savory pepper. Once this rather lively phase is over, the character quickly becomes light and even a little watery. The rum glides and remains on the surface, despite the wood and pepper that continue to swarm across the tongue, sprinkling it with smoky notes of molasses and caramel.
7:On the finish, it's the smokiness of very strongly toasted wood that remains, along with hints of vanilla at the very end.
Hint of maple syrup, as my mom pointed out. Dark copper pour. A hint of oak, some lemon, peel included.
One of my favorites to sip. Can find in US for reasonable price
Tastes great on a couple ice cubes, easy to sip. Nice looking bottle as well.
I found this to be a smooth and easy drinking rum, enjoyed this bottle, value for money however, I think there are superior choices available
There is complex flavor but it’s subtle
Very easy sipping
One of my first really good rums and still one I'm fond of. this is one of those experiential rums that washes over you with warmth and calmness. Never a harsh moment just an expression of enjoyment.
I loved this less expensive flavor packed gem. Went down smooth and wasnt inclined to stop once I started with it. Sadly, it is no longer available in my area.
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Brugal 1888 has a strong taste, it has a semi-explosion in your mouth when you take a sip and has bit of a burn when going down. Has a strong character and it stands out among the collection. However I can understand if the taste is overwhelming since not everyone likes it.
If you want something unique to drink you cannot go wrong with this one though.
