Appleton Estate Signature

Whenever I’ve purchased Appleton Estate rums, I normally buy their 12 year olds. This was no where near as good a tipple, but bearing in mind that it was almost half the price of a 12 year old, I gave it a rating of 7. It’s drinkable on its own, but it’s perfect in cocktails.

Appleton estate signature mixed with Coca-Cola can be a great drink that goes down way too easy. It does not have too much funky Jamaican flavour and could be sipped neat , but it could also stand some more barrel ageing to make it great. Great value at only $37 at the LCBO.

A bit disappointed in the taste. I was expecting more funk but found it quite bland. Used it as a mixer.

Generally I am not a huge fan of Jamaican rums, but the “funk” on this one is subtle and serves to add a bit of complexity. It is slightly sweet with some dried fruit notes. Not a bad sipper.

Simple, buttery, and slightly funky. Appleton signature is a great way to start getting into Jamaican flavors without something super funky. There’s still the overripe fruits and esters, but it’s much more tamed down than most other options.

This rum falls just short of full-flavor. It’s a bit harsh on the nose, but surprisingly smooth. Notes of tropical fruit and vanilla. Would make a good mixer but can also be sipped neat.

I am new to trying different rum and this was my first try at something that I would say is not a normal bar type rum. Was recommended to me and it did not disappoint however I am leaving room for improvement by rating it at a six.

I can already see that this will be a staple in my cabinet for years to come. Mixes great in almost everything and fits my budget!! What more could you ask for?
