Brinley Gold Shipwreck Spiced 4-Year

I went to a well stocked rum bar today to try 5 different rums with a half ounce pour each. This one was quite a surprise and came in second. The aroma and gentle spices on the palate are truly captivating. There was no after burn, but I don't know how long ago the bottle had been opened on the bar. I was able to sip this one neat and finished my pour before the fifth rum was offered to me. If I finally find a bottle of this one, I will gladly buy it. Having tried and liked their Coconut rum also gained my trust in this company from St. Kitts.

Looking for the perfect rum to add to your after-dinner coffee? This spiced rum is not that tasty on its own yet it mixes perfectly with strong black coffee. The vanilla and the spices, which are not harmonious when sipped neat, really shine when they meet the bean. Also does well in Painkillers. A good, if not great, spiced rum.

My favorite rums are aged rums, but this is one of the best spiced rums I've tried. I even prefer this to the Kraken Black Label Spiced Rum, which is another one of my favorite spiced rums (though I like the Kraken White Label even more than this).

Has a nice sweet flavor, typical of Brinley Gold rums, which also smells and tastes of caramel, vanilla, molasses, and spice! Perhaps a bit weak at 36%abv, but tasty for a spiced rum nonetheless.

When first opened and poured into a glass it had no smell. I swirled it for a few minutes and then it smelled like a swimming pool with a lot of chlorine. Waiting longer that faded to a strong vanilla smell.
And that's it. It tastes like drinking vanilla extract. I had hoped for spice and more since it is a 4-year rated higher than 7 here. Bought to replace my Wicked Dolphin which smells and tastes of honey, oranges and cinnamon. I hoped for better, not worse.
The thing is, in a cocktail (Krakatoa Punch) my opinion switched. This brought the tropical juice flavors forward and was otherwise invisible. Wicked Dolphin drowned the cocktail in cinnamon, orange and honey. Not remembering how the officially called for Sailor Jerry tasted (beyond bland and uninteresting), I can't say which was more appropriate.
Not a winner, but an improvement when mixing. Probably won't buy again though.

Smooth finish. A touch sweet but easy sipping rum.

Výborný ovocný rum v tejto cenovej relácii. Vôňa po kandizovanom ovocí, banán a stopa aj po škorici. Chuť bohatá ovocná s dlho trvajúcou dochuťou. Pripomína brandy. Alkohol neobťažuje len mierne hreje.

Best spiced I've had so far. Beats Captain Morgan private stock.

Great for a tasty rum and cola. Not too commercial. Nice bottle too.

Tasted at The Tilted Tiki on 8/9/23. Pours an electric gold color. Pretty. Green apple aldehydes to the aroma. The flavor however is out of this world. Does not taste like a spice rum at all. Rich honey sweetness and a wood aged backbone. Medium thick palate and a very nice warming finish. This is delicious in spite of the bad aroma. Reminds me of Foursquare spiced in taste.
